SEMESTER: VIII PAPER I : COMPUTER GRAPHICS SUBJECT CODE: Subject Description This course presents a Survey of Computer Graphics, Bresenhams Algorithm, Two Dimensional Geometric Transformations, Three Dimensional Concepts, Surface Detection Methods. Goals To enable the students to learn basic transformations, algorithms and concepts. Objectives On Successful completion of the course the students should have: Understood the Computer Graphics and the various graphic algorithms. Understood the 2D and 3D transformations, models and surface rendering. UNIT I A Survey of Computer Graphics Overview of Graphics Systems: Video Display Devices Raster-Scan Systems Random-Scan Systems Graphics Monitors and Workstations input Devices Hard-Copy Devices. Output Primitives: Points and Lines LineDrawing Algorithms - DDA - Bresenhams Algorithm - Generating Algorithms of Circle & Ellipse. UNIT II Two-Dimensional Geometric Transformations: Basic Transformations Matrix Representations Composite Transformations. Two-Dimensional Viewing: Point Clipping Line Clipping: Cohen-Sutherland Line Clipping Polygon Clipping: Sutherland-Hodgeman Polygon Clipping Curve Clipping Text Clipping Exterior Clipping. Graphical User Interfaces and Interactive Input Methods : Input of Graphical Data Interactive Picture-Construction Techniques. UNIT III Three-Dimensional Concepts Three-Dimensional Object Representations: Polygon Surfaces Curved Lines and Surfaces Quadric Surfaces. Three-Dimensional Geometric and Modeling Transformations: Translation Rotation: Coordinate-Axes Rotations Scaling Other Transformations Modeling and Coordinate Transformations. UNIT IV Three-Dimentional Viewing : Viewing Pipeline Viewing Coordinates Projections Clipping. Color Models and Color Applications : Properties of Light Intuitive Color Concepts RGB Color Model.
