Aim:
To observe ,analyse and explore the scope of partitions

Objective: To study the various purposes of partitions and how partitions can be functional. And also to emphasize on the role of partitions as ambience enhances and mood swingers.

Limitations: I am limiting my topic to types of partitions and its materials.

Scope:
The availability of space is very limited so it is left toones imagination how to effectively use this limited resource to our maximum benefit. Office is one area which faces this major crunch. Number of employees, wash rooms, cabins, managers cabin etc all have to be incorporated in an office structure to use the space more judiciously and allow privacy. The best option in such cases are partition walls.

Partition is a very important aspect of designing. It can enhance the space and ambience with wide range of materials available in todays market. Partition can be created as half partition as per the visibility and light required in the area. Also a play of materials in partitions can the dcor. Some partitions act as good storage besides dividing the area. Aesthetically partitions can work wonders in the interiors. Different combination of materials can create a beautiful play of light in desired style. For e.g. a partition with a carved pattern and lit accordingly can create wonders. A half partition with storage for cutlery can be a very ideal partition between living area and dining area. A partition with a deitys idol or photo can be welcoming in the entrance. In todays market there are wide range of material.

1 Types of partition wall 1.1Movable wall

When moving a wall panel there is a 2025mm gap between the top of the panel and the underside of the head track, there is a similar gap between the bottom of the panel and the floor. Once a panel is positioned, acoustic integrity is maintained along the top and bottom of the panel by extending pressure seals. The pressure seals are extended and retracted by a single 180 turn of a removable operating handle. Final closure of the wall is achieved by extending a telescopic sleeve on the last panel. This action simultaneously extends the top and bottom seals.

The movable partitions are operated by two spring return key switches wired in series and operated simultaneously. Hand pressure must be maintained in order to operate the movable partitions. When hand pressure is removed, the movable partitions immediately stop in a quick and positive fashion without coasting. As a normal part of the operation, it is possible to partially open (or close) the movable partitions, stop them and then reverse the operation. When one of the keys is released, the movable partitions stop immediately, without coasting. The gear motor that powers the entire movable partitions is a heavy-duty, sealed, industrial motor designed for hundreds of stops and starts an hour. It is rated for service several orders of magnitude more rigorous than the service it experiences on movable partitions. Separate from the gear motor assembly is a closed loop hydraulic checking device powered by the line shaft itself. When the movable partitions are traveling downwards, the hydraulic checking device builds up a certain hydraulic pressure that is dependent on the movable partitions travel speed. In normal operation, this pressure is very low and this checking device offers no appreciable braking force on the movable partitions. If, at any time, the moveable partitions speed is substantially greater than normal, this checking device offers sufficient braking force to lower the movable partitions to a speed no greater than 150% of normal operating speed

No manual labor is required to assemble and dissemble these contemporary folding room dividers.

Advantages:

Our modern folding room dividers will outlast conventional wall systems. The panels that make up our folding room dividers do not experience the usual wear and tear as they are never handled during operation. The load generated by a

folding room divider is static and requires less structural steel than a conventional folding room divider because the load does not shift to one end of the building when stored.. The folding room divider requires no floor tracks, no wall storage pockets or closets, thereby eliminating the need for unsightly pocket doors. There are no visible hinges on a folding room divider.

1.1 Glass partitions

Panels can be hinged together (L-35-F and L35-FEC options) or they can be moved individually (L35 option) allowing them to be parked wherever wanted. All panels are top hung without the need for a floor track. Fixed panels are also available. The glass panels require only top and bottom profiles thereby maximising the glass area. The profiles house the rollers and bolts for all the models in the range, also the hinges for the L-35-F and the L-35-FEC models. With the L-35-PHS the profiles are reduced to their minimum size and located at the corners of the glass panels. The aluminium profiles can be satin anodised, powder coated in RAL colours, or sleeved in stainless steel. The L-35 features a unique security bolt which is set manually and released automatically when the wall is returned to its parked position.

Conclusion:
The main aim for putting up with this research study on partition walls was to come across a number of economical and advantageous means of having various options in creating partitions. Any space that is created requires some threshold or a division of space which does not necessarily have to be of the masonry system. Today, with, advanced technologies, it is likely to create the divisions using cheaper lighter and more elegant materials in order to solve the purpose of the partitioning, which again can be held as a temporary panel that can also be dissembled and be reused. There are many varieties of options, and the study of each reputed option was the main scope of research. One can make divisions on the basis of the visual aspect to fetch visibility according to the kind of requirement needed. Transparent partition can be of glass, making it visibly appealing. Likewise, the report points out at the prominent materials available widely in the market today. Irrespective of the place and the climatic conditions, the materials, works well in the interiors, for better functioning and aesthetic purposes. Providing divisions of various types defines the interior space depending on the kind of usability. It creates a major impact on the mind of an individual when he or she is experiencing the inner environment. The designers choice of the right material and right interior environment will surely benefit the purpose of having a partition wall.
