Tech Evaluation In order to successfully collect data, and identify the overall effect of my final creation I designed 5 testing

methods: 1. I verified whether each button and command functioned as expected. Each and every button and command worked as expected, excepting in a few cases where the user was forced to double click to move on. 2. I shared my created animation on the Scratch website to receive comments and feedback. 3. I shared my animation on my blog to also receive comments and feedback, and promoted my blog link through Facebook and Webmail. 4. I created a survey, designed to receive feedback regarding my final animation. I currently have 10 responses to my survey, mostly being positive in terms of animation yet negative when it comes to the consistency, accuracy and amount of information provided. It is almost a guarantee that my survey has been filled out by users within the age range of 13-14, because my blog link was emailed to people within this range, and this age range also applies to my friends on Facebook and the people who regularly view my Nist Blog. However it is not for certain, that the users viewing my animation from the Scratch website are within this age, therefore their responses will be different from others due to a different opinion. The results I received (in terms of presentation & animation only) are conveyed in the pie chart shown below:

Rating of creation in terms of animation & presentation

0% 0% 8% Terrible 23% Bad Satisfactory 69% Good Excellent

5. The final testing method I used was to compare my animation to another one both representing safety using social media.

Animation 1 (My project) To view animation click here.

Animation 2 (Another Project) To view animation click here.

Similarities and differences from my animation and animation 2 are: Animation 2 has no Continue Sprite, therefore the gap between a wrong answer page and the next question is timed hence this causes users to end up clicking randomly, while my animation has a continue sprite which not only is straight forward but also gives users time to read the additonal tips. Animation 2 has no sound and movement while my animation does, pushing it to the better side because, movement and sound help catch the audience and make it more interesting, and fun to complete. A majority of the backgrounds used in Animation 2, are from web images making it look more professional, however the backgrounds/sprites used in my animation, are mainly created by computer designing software, giving it a more stuctured, organised and cartoonish look (slightly more appropriate for the target audience) . Animation 2 has a wide range of facts/tips refering to safety using Facebook, while my animation only has a few short tips on each wrong answer page regarding the specificed question, which is a disadvantage because it doesnt convey as much factual content as done so by Animation 2. Specification Checklist: Specification Requirments Interactive Explanation Each myltiple choice option, consists of a command that has to be clicked to proceed in the quiz. My scratch animation has 21 views, and a few likes/responses from my link on facebook, which proves that the audience find it interesting. A question in my survey was Your

knowledge of Facebook out of 5. Before and After. Each user who completed my survey, stated that their knowledge of facebook had increased after doing my animation than before. Each tip in my animation, was stated in clear and easy english appropriate for the target audience. My quiz included sound at the beginning. Each question was represented as a different stage, hence it was almost a necessity to have at least 20 stages if not more.

Ways to Improve Based on feedback and my own opinion, I can improve by: Including more facts and text, because all in all my animation doesnt matter as much as the information conveyed to the audience. The overall effect of my final animation, was extremely cartoonish which wasnt suitable to a few users therefore, making it more realistic; by using screenshots of the real Facebook theme; could have been more suitable for my target audience A few responses I received stated, that my quiz was too long since, a single question had 4 parts making it at least 20, therefore reducing the questions from 5 to 3 could have made it more suitable And finally, the questions were unfamiliar to the user therefore making the questions easier by, choosing challenging yet familiar questions or simply stating a fact that taught the users something before they actually answered the question.

Impact to target audience My animation has had a huge impact to the target audience, since it teaches users how to complete everyday tasks relevant to Facebook. My animation gives users detailed inputs regarding everyday scenarios for example: being hacked, and helps them understand what to do in such times. I have personally witnessed peers (and even people out of my aimed target audience), add security questions and other such options, reflecting on the quality of my animation. My animation hasnt only had an impact in terms of safety, it also teaches users the basic functions of Facebook. And finally, a lot of users understood the true risks in social media and how it can affect the lives of teens via cyber bullying etc, and have tried to eradicate all these risks by following my safety tips which is proved by my survey results of how much, each indivdual has actually learnt. In conclusion my animation has been extremely helpful to year 9 students, (each being an active user of Facebook), by emphasizing the dangers of Facebook and helping them use Facebook safely.
