Hardcoating
Hardcoating (HC) of organic lenses Hardcoating of both sides of the lens Protects against scratching Prolongs the life of the lens Essential for high-index organic lenses (1.561.74) and for polycarbonate and Trivex as well as for photochromic and polarized lenses Essential for organic lenses if they are to have AR

Hardening (HC) of mineral lenses A chemical process which increases resistance to breakage and protects the eye from possible sharp splinters Prolongs the life of the lens Suitable for both clear and photochromic lenses, for single-vision and bifocals Hardening of mineral lenses occurs in special baths at a high temperature. It is thereafter too hard to be edged; therefore edging must be carried out before hardening. Hardening of mineral lenses only with index 1.5. No antireflex can be applied on these hardened mineral lenses.

Additional Treatments
Antireflex coating (AR)
The final surface treatment in the process of lens production Recommended for all lenses An indispensible treatment for high-index lenses, both organic and mineral

Hydrophobic layer Antireflex layer Adhesion layer

AR layers include: 1. Adhesion layer Acts as a base for other coatings and ensures their attachment to the lens 2. Antireflex layer Minimizes reflection and glare on the front and back sides of the lens Increases the aesthetic appearance of the glasses Increases clarity and quality of vision Reduces tiredness and related headaches or aching of the eyes Increases the transmission of visible light In the case of organic lenses, AR is only possible if the lenses have been hardcoated May have up to 7 layers (the number of layers influences the quality of the AR coating) 3. PC Filter (EMI) PC filter (EMI) is an optional coating in AR. Automatically included with Omega Optix Super Hydro hydrophobic coating, it: Helps eliminate transmission of unwanted rays from electromagnetic devices such as computer monitors or screens Has strong anti-static qualities Is recommended for those who regularly work with computers 4. Hydrophobic layer Hydro The outermost layer of AR coating Increases the non-adhesiveness of the surface of the lens as regards grease and other dirt, so that the lens remains cleaner With its hydrophobic characteristics, the lens is better protected from scratching when being cleaned
Remark: The lens with Super Hydro hydrophobic coating is applied with a protective anti-slip layer for easy edging. It can be removed with the spirit after edging.

Omega MAX
Newest generation of top quality coating with anti-scratch protection and maximum transmission Suitable for Omega Optix RX and stock lenses

Hardness Use of new formulae applied in individual layers to significantly increase lens surface hardness Lenses with Omega Max AR coating are twice as resistant against scratches as normal AR More resistant surface thanks to use of nanoelements

Without antireflex coating

Transparency Unwanted reflection is eliminated for more of the light spectrum including infra-red, causing better transparency and stability of colour reflex Cleanness New superhydrofobic layer with improved antistatic features protects surface even better against dirt deposits and creates non-sticky surface which is easier to clean. Omega Max coating: Adhesive layer: 1x Layer AR :7x Super Hydrophobic layer : 1x Residual colour : green Transmission : 99,6 %

Remark: Lenses with Omega MAX and Satin PC coatings have a special anti-slip layer for easier edging. This layer can be removed after edging with any cleaner containing alcohol.

Additional Treatments
WRAP (Prismatic Correction) Prismatic Correction of High Base Curves for wrap-angle frames, whether for sun- or sports-frames. Adjustments can be made for the majority of RX lenses.

Orders for these lenses must include the following information: Lens-shape Values A and B of the frame-shape Breadth of the bridge PD for far-vision or PD for right and left eye Height of the right and left pupils Height of the centering cross (for progressive lenses) Mounting height Type of frame Angle of curvature of the frames Wrap technology is recommended for lenses: in dioptries greater than -0.25 produced from the base 4 8 in dioptries greater than +3.00 dioptres produced from the base 6 8

Wrap technology is also recommended when using frames with a curve of 12 or more. These figures are approximate. It is also necessary to evaluate the customer s prescription.

Additional Treatments
Super Hydro The highest current degree of hydrophobic coating (upgrade of regular Hydro) The outermost layer of AR coating Combines strong hydrophobic and oleophobic characteristics, including extreme repulsion of moisture and oils Suitable for damp environments and those with sharp changes in temperature Minimizes scratching during cleaning The new Super Hydro from Omega Optix comes with a transparent anti-slip coating to allow the lens to be edged without slipping in the edging machine. The anti-slip coating can be removed after edging simply by means of washing with an alcohol solution.

HMC
HMC (Hard multi-coat) from Omega Optix comprises: Hardcoating AR treatment consisting of: Adhesive coating AR coating (7 layers) Hydrophobic coating HMC is avaliable in 3 variants: Oasis residual colour: green Transmission: 99.5% Sapphire residual colour: blue Transmission: 98.5% Violet residual colour: violet Transmission 91% HMC +Super Hydro from Omega Optix comprises: Hardcoating AR treatment consisting of: Adhesive coating AR coating (7 layers) PC Filter (EMI) coating Super Hydrophobic coating HMC+SuperHydro is avaliable as Satin residual AR colour: green AR transmission: 99.5% All of the above HMC variants can be applied on both organic and mineral lenses.
Remark: The lens with Omega MAX and Satin PC coatings have a special anti-slip layer for easier edging. It can be removed with the spirit after edging.

Mirror coating
Placed on the outer surface of the lens Assists in protection of the eyes from direct sun rays For additional comfort, green AR on the inner surface of the lens is standard For 100% UV protection, we recommend combination with UV Filter Includes hydrophobic layer Is not recommended for DriveWear, Transitons and polarized lenses.

The range of mirror coatings available is as follows: Silver Mirror Silver-grey mirror coating Suitable for both clear and tinted organic lenses Flash Mirror Mirror coating with a translucent silver residual colour Suitable for both clear and tinted organic lenses Warning: Mirror coating increase color by 20%. We recommend maximum 60% tinting for drivers.

Flash Mirror

UV Filter
Provides full protection against UVA and UVB light at 400nm For both sides of the organic lens In combination with tinting or mirror coating, it is ideal for sunglasses Has a residual 3% yellow tint on clear lenses Suitable for clear and tinted 1.5, 1.56 and 1.57 organic lenses (higher index lenses as well as Trivex and Transitions automatically block UV light)
