PREAMBLE
The present day concepts as applicable to the scientific Management of an establishment or an enterprise include essentially efficient running and the thrust area is safety of its employees. While on one hand, safety is directly related to productivity, it has far reaching consequences towards the welfare of employees and safe working environment made available, in case the basic concepts of safety are not followed and put into practice. As a matter of fact, the majority of organisations, safety does not receive its due primarily because of lesser importance being attached to the basic necessity of having a safer environment. In the realm of Safety, the creation of attitude and behaviour pattern on the part of the people is, however, of supreme importance. Safety has, therefore, to have its structure built up in Seven Letter Word `CRUSADE', of which each letter indicates a specific action: `C' stands for a Concept which means that safety should not just be available, it should be made acceptable. `R' stands for Resourcefulness, implying creative imagination.
`U' means Unifying force for all the others. `S' stands for Sensitivity to the needs of people. `A' stands for two priceless Abilities - the ability to keep on growing in learning and secondly, the ability to adjust or adapt our growing knowledge to needs. `D' stands for the strength of Dedication to serve. `E' stands for Enthusiasm which is a great asset God has given to us. As can be seen from the above, there is no magic in Safety. It has got to be sincere, genuine, by planned and continuing hard work and the aim should be to ensure that every man ends his working day in the same physical condition as he began it. We must recognise the fact that the best way is the safe way, a safe way job is an efficient job and an efficient job makes a profit.
