Fire Protection

1) Does the program address that fire extinguishing equipment is readily available? 2) Does the program address that all workers who may be required to use fire extinguishing equipment are trained? 3) Does the program address that fire extinguishers are of suitable types and sizes? 4) Does the program address that fire extinguishers are inspected monthly?

ProMinent Policy
ProMinent has developed a fire safety plan outlining the procedure for all employees to follow, fire marshals responsibilities, evacuation plans, and fire prevention measures taken. ProMinent believes and supports a proactive plan regarding fire and will strive to: Prevent fires through safe storing and handling of chemicals and equipment Prepare employees in the event of a fire and familiarize employees with fire evacuation plans. Post and visibly display fire procedures. Designate a minimum of two fire marshals. Fire Extinguishers Fire extinguishers are provided and accessible throughout the facility, and are marked and visible. Employees who may be required to use a fire extinguisher are trained on proper operation, as well as where the fire extinguishers are located and procedure to be followed should an incident when the discharge of a fire extinguisher is required. All fire extinguishers meet OHSA code, and are checked monthy for defects or deterioration. All fire extinguishers are the appropriate size and type for its locationand in compliance with provincial fire codes Fire Drills Fire drills shall be organized by a ProMinent Fire Marshal, and shall be held once during each 12month period for all employees. Evacuation times for said exercise are expected to be under 2 minutes and shall be timed during drills by a fire marshal and recorded on the Fire Drill Report. The Fire Drill Report shall be kept for 12 months after the fire drill and the report shall be filed by a Fire Marshal and recorded in the Occupational Health and Safety file. Fire Marshal Duties ProMinent has designated a minimum of two Fire Marshals who shall perform the following duties:

Alert all employees of the situation. Evacuate the building. Fire Marshals shall direct employees to the nearest exit and towards the meeting point, the PFC flag (alternative is the northeast corner outside the systems production entrance) Fire Marshals shall collect the employee list from the exit doors and once at the meeting point, ensure that all employees are present. Either Reception or a Fire Marshal is to collect the cell phone located by the front door. Should an employee be missing or injured, the Fire Marshals will alert the Fire Department and follow their instructions. In the event of a fire drill, Fire Marshals shall: Notify Management of a scheduled fire drill. Notify the Fire Department of a scheduled drill. Pull the fire alarm. Proceed as if there was a fire and follow the Employee Evacuation Plan. Time the evacuation. Fill out and file the Fire Drill Report in the Occupational Health and Safety file. Alert employees to the results of the fire drill. Plan training exercises should improvement be necessary.
