Social Transformation

Social transformation is another tricky value to expose and implement. It is very difficult for a teacher to be effective with a lesson if he/she does not understand what theyre trying to teach. To me, social transformation is change. I remember Anibal Muoz talking to us about how he actually saw the transformation in his daughter and how she expressed herself towards commercials; this is what I wanted for my students when it came to social transformation. I wanted my students to be so immersed in what they had learned; that they could actually pass it on to their immediate family, friends and these would do the same, and so on. I decided to expose my students to social transformation through my Appearances can be deceiving TU. This would also provide for exposure to diversity. Through a variety of exercises and readings, I provided the students with a basic concept of not everything being what we might think it is. Students at this age are very visual, and as a result they tend to be very judgmental. As a means of making it authentic, I exposed them to situations in which they had to analyze themselves in terms of appearances or things that they liked, that others might not like. Because of this they were more aware of their actions and consequences.

Social transformation is quite difficult to transmit, but through a series of carefully prepared activities, it is possible. I think that teachers should be more exposed to it, and more aware of it, for it to accomplished. It is not an easy task, but I think that given more time and more tools, it is possible.
