YOUNG COMMONWEALTH COMPETITIONS 2012

Guide to entering Closing date: 1st May 2012


To mark Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee, for one year only, all essay, photo and film entries will become a part of the Jubilee Time Capsule. Your entry will join 22,000 others - one for each day that Her Majesty has been head of the Commonwealth - in the world's biggest history project. In 2012, you could win a prize in both the Young Commonwealth Competitions, and the Jubilee Time Capsule.

How to submit your entries


Online
All online entries must be uploaded directly to the Jubilee Time Capsule website. Before entering, please note the following: Essay: The Jubilee Time Capsule does not accept pdf or word documents. Please click on 'Text' to add your entry. Feel free to upload illustrations or photos to accompany your essay, but please do not include any scans of written work. Film: Entrants should submit one film up to 4 minutes long, and up to 500 words of accompanying text. Photo: Entrants should submit one photo and up to 500 words of accompanying text. Please be sure to use the 'Describe it' box to indicate if your entry is for the essay, photo, or film competition.

If you are submitting your own entry, please click on VSign up hereX. If you are a teacher and would like to submit entries on behalf of students, please register for a Teacher/Group Leader account. This account can also be used by parents submitting entries on behalf of entrants who are under 13.

2. Click on Vcontribute nowX to submit your essay, film, or photo entry.

All entries must relate to a single day in the last 60 years since 6th February 1952.

The title should describe your contribution, e.g. if answering topic number 4, VA dayXs journeyX, use the title to describe the journey.

Click on VuploadX to add your photo or film entry, or photos and illustrations to accompany your essay entry.

Please copy and paste your essay entry or photo/film description into the text box. The JTC does not accept pdf, word documents, or scans of written work.

Rules
1 The Competition is open to young people who are a citizen of or resident in a Commonwealth country or territory. 2 Candidates for the Essay Competition must be aged 18 or under on 1st May 2012 to be eligible for entry. Candidates for the Photographic and Vision Awards must be aged 30 or under on 1st May 2012 to be eligible for entry. 3 Candidate may submit one entry in each competition (Essay, Photo, Film). Each entry must be written on a single topic. 4 All entries can be submitted either through a school, college or youth organisation or individually, through the Jubilee Time Capsule website or by post. 5 Film entries can be up to 4 minutes long. 6 All entries and descriptions must be written in English. Films that feature languages other than English, must be accompanied by English subtitles. 7 Entries are liable for disqualification on the following criteria: no date of birth is given. the candidate is too old. the entry is too long or too short in relation to the specified word count. 8 The Royal Commonwealth Society has the right to publish entries for the purpose of the competitions and the Jubilee Time Capsule.
