Aug 27 1979 Richard Mdluli joins the police and undergoes basic training at Hammanskraal. Jan 31 1981 Transferred to Vosloorus Police Stations detective branch. Nov 23 1983 Mdluli marries Lilly Mdluli. Three children are eventually born from this marriage. Three years later, Mdluli begins an affair with Thsidi Buthelezi, then still in high school.

Sep 24 1997 A Boksburg North assault case is opened against Mdluli by Buthelezi. She subsequently withdraws this charge.

1997 Buthelezi meets Oupa Ramokgibe. Ramokgibe and Buthelezi get married in the Boksburg Magistrates Court on July 22 1998.

Jan 1 1998 to Feb 17 1999 Alleged intimidation and abuse of Ramokgibes mother, sisters and friends by Mdluli and co-accused. This is an attempt to force them to end the relationship.

Aug 1 1998 to Oct 1998 Alleged kidnapping, intimidation and assault of Buthelezi, her friend Alice Manana and Mananas sister and co-accused. 1998

Oct 17 1998 Manana is hospitalised after being attacked at her home. A case docket is opened at Dawn Park Police Station. Four months later, this docket is closed. Joseph Israel, the investigating officer, passes the docket on because he cannot investigate a senior officer .

1981 Jun 11 2000 One of Oupas sisters, is forced into a grey car and taken to an open space, where she is raped by two unknown men.

1983 Mar 24 1999 Lieutenant Colonel Johan du Plessis receives the docket, informs his superiors of the case and commences an investigation. Feb 18 1999 The Ramogibe family reports the allegations against Mdluli, Ximba, Mtunzi and Dhlomo at Vosloorus SAPS. Dhlomo also reports the armed robbery of state rearm , which he claimed happened when Ramokgibe was shot.

1997 Feb 17 1999 Ramokgibe is shot and killed while accompanying Dhlomo to the scene of the attempted murder. Dhlomo claims two unknown, armed men forced him to lie down and that he later heard shots. 1999 Feb 10 1999 Investigation docket into the attempt on Ramokgibes life is closed as undetected . The docket was last booked out to Samuel Dhlomo.

Jun 13 2000 Oupa Ramokgibes mother, Sophia, receives two phone calls from an unknown man, who states that she is too clever and that her other daughter will be next. A case docket is opened. 2000 Aug 1 2000 With a murder investigation still pending, Mdluli is promoted to director and transferred to the Oudtshoorn Police Station in the Western Cape.

Jul 1 1999 Mdluli promoted to senior superintendent.

Dec 23 1998 An attempt is made on Ramokgibes life while he is driving a car belonging to Ximba, reportedly Ramokgibes friend. Buthelezi and Ramokgibe ee to Katlehong.

Aug 25 2000 The rape investigation is closed as undetected by a Captain Hearny.

Dec 26 2000 Du Plessis travels to Oudtshoorn to confront Mdluli about the case. Mdluli said he would submit an affidavit, but no record of it exists.

Early 2001 Copies of the murder dockets in the cases of Mdluli and other accused are submitted to the NPA to decide if the matter should go to court. Two seperate sets of submitted dockets go missing.

Aug 1 2003 Mdluli is promoted to deputy provincial commissioner of Gauteng.

Nov 4 2005 Mdluli is transferred to Gauteng as deputy provincial commissioner.

Jul 1 2009 Mdluli becomes a National Division Commissioner: Intelligence. It is during this period that Mdluli allegedly abuses the covert intelligence fund of the police. 2009

Mar 30 to Apr 1 2011 Mdluli, Dhlomo, Ximba and Mtunzi are arrested, reportedly after media reports of the unresolved murder of Ramokgibe.
