Windows 7 machines keep getting locked out of domain

16 Nov 2009 09:52 AM Hello: I desperately need to solve this grave problem. My Windows 7 workstations get locked out of the domain when a user locks a machine. Embarrassingly enough, this is happening to Admin accounts. Initial logon from a powered-off state in the AM works fine. But the minute we lock a machine here in the IT department, or logon to another Windows XP workstation, the account (that is concurrently logged onto his Windows 7 PC) gets locked out. The domain controllers' Security event viewer log is generating 675 and 680 errors. I have the users' accounts, that are logging into Windows 7 boxes first thing in the AM, being audited. Thank you, any help is appreciated.

16 Nov 2009 07:55 PM What server are you using? 200/2003/2008? Either way, on your workstation, try this the next time it happens: 1) remove passwords by clicking on Start > Run > type "rundll32.exe keymgr.dll, KRShowKeyMgr" and then delete the Domain-related passwords 2) remove passwords in Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Content > Personal Information > Auto Complete > Clear Passwords 3) Delete cookies in Internet Explorer > Tools = Internet Options > General 4) Disconnect (note the path before disconnecting) all networks drives, reboot, then map them again More often than not it is an explicit drive mapping.

19 Jan 2010 10:26 AM I had this problem when i put my own personal Windows 7 laptop on the network at work. I found that my problem was cause by Win7 trying to manage all the connections itself with what it "thought" was the password for everything. And it ended up locking me out every 5-10mins. To remove this feature try the following... 1. Control Panel -> HomeGroup 2. Change Advanced Sharing Settings... 3. Under "HomeGroup Connections" make sure "Use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers" is selected. 4. Save changes After i did that i stopped getting locked out. Hopefully it works for you too!

05 Feb 2010 10:58 AM Hi Surf 40 here; I started this string. Just in case anyone's still listening, this is resolved. Here's what was happening: blame in on the Sophos AV client, functioning in a domain environment. Basically, I built a user's new laptop's AV client to authenticate to the Sophos Console server with my credentials. Every time he logged back in, it authenticated with my name & password, which de-authenticated me off the network, irrespective of the machine I was on. I know this is an incomplete answer, but I just thought I'd provide some feedback. Thanks to those who piped in with their expertise, I appreciate it. After posting this, I gave up on this forum because nobody seemed to respond to any postings.
