STANDARD PROCEDURE FOR EARTHING PIPE EARTHING ELECTRODE: 1.

Earthing electrode (GI pipe) should be 3m long and a GI pipe not less than 40mm diameter 2. Holes of 12mm diameter drilled at 75mm interval up to 2.5mts length from bottom 3. Electrodes should be buried not less than 3m below ground level and no joints are allowed SIZE OF EXCAVATION: 1. Below depth of 3m,size of excavation shall be 900x300x900 mm depth 2. Then Size of 1meter diameter and 3meters length should be excavated 3. Plate/Pipe should be placed in vertical position 4. GI/PVC pipe for watering shall be used of 40mm diameter, length of 3m,(contain hole of 12mm diameter in zig zag manner starting from 15cm away from bottom to 2m height) SALT AND CHARCOAL APPLICATION: 1. At bottom 150mm layer of salt and charcoal shall be installed, then plate shall be installed 2. Alternate layer of 150mm of salt and charcoal powder should be used up to 2.5 meter 3. Minimum 120 kg of charcoal powder and 120 kg of salt should be used for each pit 4. Charcoal powder and salt quantity should be same 5. Minimum 1ohm R should be available at a distance of 15m 6. Distance between two earthing pit is 2x length of earthing electrode PLATE/PIPE EARTHING: Plate earthing electrode 1. For copper shall be 600x600x31mm 2. for hot dip GI 600x600x63mm

STANDARD PROCEDRE FOR EARTHING OF CABLE SYSTEMS

1) All conduits, trays and support structure on which the cables have been installed shall be bonded to main earthing system 2) Armour earthing While the armour of cable is not earthed through gland plate. Armour of HT cables shall be earthed at one end only. Armour of other cables shall be earthed at both ends of cable.

3) Screen Earthing Screen of HT power cables shall be earthed at one end only Screen of control cables shall be earthed at one end if the same is not earthed through cable gland Screen of electronic earthing system cables shall be earthed as per the requirement stipulated elsewhere

STANDARD PROCEDURE FOR CONTROL PANELS ERECTION AND TESTING The following points shall be checked up during erection. 1) Layout of foundation channels 2) Floor level covered by the panel with respect to main floor level 3) Location and serial no of panels. 4) Positioning of panels 5) Verticality of switchgear panels within the limit specified 6) Frames of breaker truck and modules in housing and its manual operation 7) Earthing of panels and Breaker truck to station earth 8) Lugs for termination of HT and LT cables 9) Mounting and fixing arrangements for bus bars and Tightening of busbar jointing bolts as specified 10) Clearance between * Phase to Phase *Phase to earth 11) Minimum clearance for: *Breaker, Truck, and modules withdrawal *Distance required for maintenance work 12) Check operation of: *Remote control *Various required- closing/tripping/ alarm/indications/interlocks

13) Installation position of instruments and relays Operation of relays and meters by secondary injection

14) AC/DC supplies of panel Final relay settings as per customer requirements 15) Tightness of terminal connections for HT and LT Connections 16) Opening operation of breaker, manually and electrically 17) Working of ammeters and voltmeters for their entire range and other panel mounted inside like recorder, indicator etc

STANDARD PROCEDURE FOR INSTALLATION OF CABLES General (i) (ii) Cables with apparent defects like defective armoring etc. shall not be installed. Cables shall not be bent sharp to a small radius either while handing or in installation. The minimum safe bending radius for PVC/XLPE (MV) cables shall be 12 times the overall diameter of the cable. (iii) The ends of lead sheathed cables shall be sealed with solder immediately after cutting the cables. (iv) In case of PVC cables, suitable sealing compound/tape shall be used for this purpose Route Before the cable laying work is undertaken, the route of the cable shall be decided by the Engineer-in-Charge considering the following. (i) (ii) (iii) Cross country run merely to shorten the route length shall not to be adopted. Cable route shall be planned away from drains As far as possible, the alignment of the cable route shall be decided after taking into consideration the present and likely future requirements of other services including cables enroute, possibility of widening of roads/lanes etc. (iv) Corrosive soils, ground surrounding sewage effluent etc. shall be avoided for the

routes. (v) Route of cables of different voltages. (a) Whenever cables are laid along well demarcated or established roads, the LV/MV cables shall be laid farther from the kerb line than HV cables. (b) Cables of different voltages, and also power and control cables shall be kept in different trenches with adequate separation.

Where available space is restricted such that this requirement cannot be met, LV/MV cables shall be laid above HV cables. (c) Where cables cross one another, the cable of higher voltage shall be laid at a lower level than the cable of lower voltage.

Proximity to communication cables Power and communication cables shall as far as possible cross each other at right angles. The horizontal and vertical clearances between them shall not be less than 60cm.
