Julio Pedro Lafuente Lpez 1951

Born in Zuera, Zaragoza Province, Spain, Gallego home by his grandfather and his grandmother Navarro, is identified as a lover of nature and exercise with great interest in the microscopic observation and field ornithology. It is very fond of reading, particularly trials, dissemination of science and crime fiction and fantasy and even comics. It is also fond of classical music and plays classical guitar on his own. He's very versatile sports fan having practiced several sports such as football, handball, rugby, karate and mountain biking, highlighting black belt in karate and goes to his workplace by bike. Professionally he is the Rector of the Public University of Navarra, Spain where he was re-elected last April 2011 for a further period of four years, in an election of the university community. Julio Lafuente as it is commonly known in the university, graduated in 1973 earning a Ph.D. in Mathematics in 1977 both at the University of Zaragoza, he served as professor from 1973 to 1989, where he joined the Public University Navarra as Professor of Algebra. He is a director of three doctoral theses and has authored numerous research papers, some of whose results are collected in canonical texts on the subject, such as Finite Soluble Groups, of Doerk and Hawkes, and Classes of Finite Groups, Ballester-Bolinches and Ezquerro . His research interests include finite groups, group classes, primitive Groups, Representations and cohomology of groups, and Codes. Two years has participated as a member of the Comisin Nacional Evaluadora de la Actividad Investigadora [National Evaluation of Research Activity] (CNEAI) in the scientific field of Mathematics and Physics, and has been, since 1988, researcher responsible for seven research projects funded, five of them by the Ministry of education of Spain. In the Public University of Navarra has provided the subjects of Algebra, Calculus and Algebra Extension, Codes and Cryptography, and Information Theory and Coding, in different degrees in the School of Industrial Engineering and Telecommunications. In addition, the Public University of Navarra, has held the positions of Vice President for Research in the Management Committee, Director of the Department of Mathematics and Informatics, Vice President for Research, Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic, and General Coordinator of the entrance examinations.
