Supplementary Questionnaire Examination for Business & Financial Manager

1 THIS IS A TEST: As outlined in the Human Resources Examination Standards Policy:

Section 1. Character. All examinations will be job-related and consist only of subjects which will fairly test the relative capacity of the person examined to discharge the particular duties of the class to which appointment is sought. Section 2 Content. Examinations held to establish a list of eligibles for any class will consist of one or more of the following components as determined by the Human Resources Director.

2 Per Human Resources Policy, the component used in this examination is Training and Experience. Information in this supplementary questionnaire, along with documents already submitted, will be used to evaluate your job-related experience related to this position. 3 THIS IS A TEST. It is your responsibility to provide all the requested information clearly and completely. Be advised, if necessary, we may request specific examples of reports and studies. A candidate that fails to complete this questionnaire will no longer be considered for this position. Information cannot be added at a later date. 4 Please type your responses. 5 THIS IS A TEST. Applicants may file a written protest immediately following the administration of the examination. No protests will be accepted after the date on which the administration of the examination is completed. EVALUATION FACTORS: Be concise and detailed when responding to the following statements/questions (Answer not to exceed 150 words). 1. ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES: Indicate and discuss any experience you may have in developing and implementing general and special accounting systems and procedures (i.e. knowledge and implementation of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), to include accrual and cash flow accounting. Include experience in which you were directly responsible for preparing financial statements, annual reports, special reports, cost studies (including cost/benefit analysis), economic feasibility studies as well as statistical and operating reports and managing restricted, temporarily restricted and unrestricted funds. Also, include experience in the managing of grants, to include managing actual expenditures, overhead and in-kind contributions. 2. PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS AND/OR CAPITAL PROJECT DEVELOPMENT: Describe your experience in the planning and development of business and/or capital projects and programs. Provide specifics on the type of programs, the involved capital for the program and the outcome of the program. Indicate your level of involvement pertaining to the following areas involved in program development: targeting, researching and recommending new business opportunities, providing and presenting supporting documentation regarding financial viability, economic feasibility and implementation schedule of proposed program, and providing progress reports and communicating short and long term outcomes. 3. AUDITING AND INTERNAL CONTROL: Describe any experience you may have in supervising and/or cooperating in major auditing functions or in implementing auditing and internal control procedures. Specifically, provide experience in which you were responsible for analyzing and evaluating auditing outcomes to determine effectiveness of procedures and operating goals designed to safeguard an organizations assets. Include examples of identifying deficiencies and what recommendations you provided. 4. SUPERVISION: Outline your supervisory experience. Describe supervisory techniques used. Indicate the level of authority you held (e.g., developing, executing and enforcing procedures and policies, writing performance evaluations, scheduling or assigning work, administering or recommending discipline, etc.) 5. COMMUNICATION (Written and Oral): Describe your experience in speaking at public hearings or meetings. Also, describe your experience in written communications such as writing reports, grants and/or proposals. 6. COMPUTER APPLICATIONS: Describe your computer experience. State which software packages you have used and your level of proficiency with them. Include any experience with databases and event, registration, scheduling and point of sale software.
