Introduction
KTD Curriculum is an outline of study courses developed under the guidance of the Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche in 1995. Its purpose is to help KTCs (Karma Thegsum Chling) in establishing educational programs in Buddhadharma. As the availability of books and audio tapes listed in the KTD Curriculum has changed, we have reviewed the list of references. In this document, we provide the list of primary references as recommended by Khenpo Ugyen Tenzin, and supplementary references selected from a vast body of Buddhist literature available in English translation. The primary references provided by Khenpo Ugyen Tenzin (see pages 4-5) will serve as the basis for studying the Buddha's teachings as outlined in the KTD Curriculum. Topics from the KTD Curriculum will be taught at KTD from the Tibetan sources. Once they have been transcribed, they will be available as the material on which classes and courses can be based. For the time being, until the transcripts are available, we provide the list of books already available in English that should serve as an aid in studying the topics from the KTD Curriculum. This list by no means exhausts the rich selection of texts available in English, and inquisitive students are encouraged to reach for other sources as well. How to use this list of references:

In bold are indicated the primary references as recommended by Khenpo Ugyen Tenzin. In most cases any additional references are optional. Students should be able to get necessary information for a given topic from the first listed text (as long as the text is available in English). However, if the primary reference discusses the topic in a somewhat succinct manner, and students feel a need for further explanation, the next listed book will provide it. Students are encouraged to read all recommended texts in order to expand their understanding of each topic. It may also be helpful to read at least the primary sources more than once.
