Two Important Announcements Regarding Credit Card Transactions

Credit Card Rates Reduced

Our flat rate of 2.19% for non-swipe credit and debit cards (Visa, MC and Discover) is one of the lowest available. We have harnessed our volume buying power to negotiate discounts with the credit card companies. In recent years when general rate increases were announced by the major card brands, we were able to hold our rates steady due to this volume. As a result, OrthoBanc has not increased credit card fees since 2004. We are writing you to announce that on February 1, 2012, we will lower our credit card rate to 1.89%! As an example of what this savings means to your bottom line, consider a payment amount of $200 per month. Your credit card fee at our current rate of 2.19% is $4.38 but our new rate will result in a fee of only $3.78 a savings of $.60. Over the course of a 22 month payment plan, this is $13.20 less per patient. (Our rate for American Express will remain at 2.99%.) If you are currently using OrthoBanc for ACH (check) drafts only, this would be a great time to consider us for your recurring credit card transactions also. Perhaps you are manually keying in credit card payments each month? These transactions typically carry the highest credit card rate and also require hours of your staffs time. OrthoBanc is a much better solution.

6050w IRS Ruling

The 6050w IRS ruling requires that all credit card companies and payment management providers like OrthoBanc report your credit card transactions to the IRS. As a result, you will be receiving a 1099k from OrthoBanc for the amount of your credit card sales in 2011. We anticipate that the 1099k forms will be mailed during the last week of January. The 1099k will include only the amount of credit card transactions processed by OrthoBanc.
