Postmodernnism: In order to understand the meaning and the connotation of Postmodernism it is imperative to see or describe its antecedent, which

is called modernism. Modernism is a school of thought which was developed in the late 19th and early 20th century. The name is first given to a school of Roman Catholic Theologians represented in France by A.F. Loisy(1857-1940) and in Britain by Baron F. von Hugel and G. Tyrell.(1861-1909). Modernism adopted a far reaching Biblical criticism and a skeptical attitude towards Christian traditional doctrine, it emphasizes ethical conduct. The dominant themes in modernism are; the affirmation of human goodness, the denial of any distinction between natural and super-natural or Christianity and other religion.1 Postmodernism: Any of artistic movement since about 1960s that have challenge the philosophy and practices of modern arts and literature. It is filled with countless heterogeneous selves and heterogeneous viewpoints. It describes the emergence of a society in which the mass media and popular culture are the most important and powerful institution, and controls the shape and types of social relationship3.Nevertheless, postmodernism is not only a philosophy of arts an science, but it refers to the real world of dislocation and fragmentation. Unlike the modernists expression of dissatisfaction with the world, post modernist finds a web of view points to show what is the world rather than what does one knows about the world.4 Prophetic: The adjective Prophetic by itself alone has no meaning at all unless it is suffixed with an appropriate noun or pronoun. When M.M Thomas talks a bout Prophetic spirituality, his main intention may be understood as the Church responsibility in building a just society. Prophetic spirituality should not be necessarily understood as prediction or divination in a religious circle.
