Cochrans formula: Confidence level = 95% Margin of error = 5% d = 0.05 z = 1.96 p = proportion, 50% p = 0.5 q= (1-p) q=1-0.5 q=0.5 n1= z2 (p*q)/d2 = (1.96)2 * (0.5 *0.5) / (0.05)2 = 384 GCBS students Students = 1076 Therefore population (N) = 1076 Correction factor = n1 / (1+n1/ N) = 384 / (1+384/1076) = 283 Therefore required sample size = 283
