The Format for the Project Report


MCA-6th Semester

A. GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS a) The theme / topic of the project should be current and based on latest technology.

b) The candidate has to give a project brief or synopsis to the Officer In charge,
and the guide(s) will be assigned to him related to his topic before commencing the project work.

c) The length of the report may be about 80 to 120 page. d) The project must be Hard Bounded with Black Color cover and Golden
text. (Other forms of binding will not be accepted).

e) The project must be submitted duly signed by the Guide/HOD. f) The project should be neatly typed on one side and in A4 size Paper only. B.
FOLLOWING TYPING INSTRUCTIONS SHOULD BE FOLLOWED

i. One and a half spacing should be used for typing the general text. The general text shall be justified and typed in the Font style Times New Roman and Font size 12. ii. Subheading shall be typed in the Font style Times New Roman and Font size 12 and bold. iii. Heading shall be typed in the Font style Times New Roman and Font size 14 and bold. iv. Use proper header and footer on each page of report. Format of Header : name of Project / Team Name (Times New Roman, Font Size :8) Format of Footer : RCEW/MCA/2009-12 (Appropriate Batch) Left Aligned Format of Footer : Page number in the form of N of M (Right Corner)

Page numbers shall start from Heading Introduction inner pages of report. Certificates and rest pages will be marked in Roman Numbers. C. COMPONENTS OF A PROJECT REPORT

The sequence in which the project report material should be arranged and

bound should be as follows:

Core Project Report : (a) Title of the project (b) Introduction (c) Certificate from the Study Centre (d) Certificate from Organization (if its live project) (e) Contents (f) Acknowledgment (g) Student Profile (h) Bio-data of the project guide (i) Platform used (j) Front & Back end used (k) Project Analysis (l) Feasibility study & cost-benefit analysis (m) Project Design (n) Table structure (o) DFDs, Data Dictionary, Pert Chart etc. (p) Coding (q) Form Design (r) Testing mechanisms used (s) Implementation mechanisms (t) Future scope of the project (u) Bibliography Appendices: Software Requirement Specifications Source Code User Manual

D. PREPARATION FORMAT 1) Cover Page (Title Page): Title, Name of the Candidate (University roll No.), Name of Guide, Regional center name with University Name (and emblem) and Place, Month and Year of submission. (Refer Annexure- I) 2) Declaration by the Student: Refer Annexure- II 3) Certificate by the Guide: Refer Annexure-III 4) Acknowledgements: The candidate may thank all those who helped in the preparation of project.

5) Abstract (or summary): of the report should, in one page, include: the
purpose of the study; the methodology used; and a summary of the major findings, conclusions and recommendations. 6) Table of Contents: Refer Annexure-V

7) Main Body of the Project: This is core aspect of your project giving in detail
your project work. The project may be divided into 5 to 7 Chapters with suitable Titles, the first Chapter being Introduction and the last being Conclusion. 8) Appendices: Appendices are provided to give supplementary information, which is included in the main text may serve as a distraction and cloud the central theme. Appendices should be numbered using Arabic numerals, e.g. Appendix 1, Appendix II, etc. Appendices, Tables and References appearing in appendices should be numbered and referred to as appropriate places just as in the case of chapters. Appendices shall carry the title of the work reported and the same title shall be made in the contents page also.

9) List of References (if any): The listing of references should be typed 2 spaces below the heading REFERENCES in alphabetical order in single spacing left justified. Should be numbered consecutively (in square [] brackets, throughout the text and should be collected together in the reference list at the end of your report. The references should be numbered in the order they are used in the text. The name of the author/authors should be immediately followed by the year and other details. A typical illustrative list given below relates to the citation example quoted above.

E. SUBMISSION OF PROJECT: Submission of Project should reach this office latest by 25 th May, 2012. The project report should accompany various supporting documents as described in below paragraphs. There is no need for any synopsis at this time to be submitted for the project chosen. The student can directly submit their project report in prescribed format. The student is required to submit three hard copies of the project report hardly bound in Black Cover and Golden Text. Student is also required to submit two softcopies on CD/DVD (full source code in working condition, Database with Dummy Data and Additional required installation files if required any). Along with this, student should also keep the soft copy of the project and the project report ready for the viva-voce and presentation if required by the Examiner.
