shareholders on Wednesday filed a judicial letter in the First Hall of the Civil court against the Prime Minister, Mr. D. Mintoff, in representation of the Government of Malta, Dr. J. Abela, as Minister of Finance, Customs and Ports, Mr. Lino Spiteri, personally and as Controller appointed, on December 11, 1973, under the Banking Act of 1970, to look after assets belonging to the National Bank of Malta Ltd. and against Mr Maurice Abela, Mr. Dennis Degiorgio and Mr. Anthony Tagliaferro, personally and in representation of the Council of Administration appointed under Act XLV of 1973. The names of 98 shareholders are included in the judicial letter. The shareholders submitted that the transfer of their shares in the National Bank of Malta Ltd. to the Maltese Government without compensation was null and void at law because it lacked consent and also because of form deficiencies. The shareholders informed respondents that they were reserving all their rights under the law and called upon them to remedy the situation and restore the position existing before the mentioned transfers by the restitution of their shares with all their rights. The shareholders also informed respondents, without prejudice, that they are ready to discuss and consider every way and proposal which can lead to an amicable solution. The judicial letter was signed by Dr. R. Farrugia and Dr. A. J. Montanaro Gauci.
