Zopo ZP100 Rooting and Market Fix - IHCT One X 4G+ (aka Star B79) Firmware / Rom Flashing
Everything you need is HERE Rooting: Start the flash tool, click on Scatter-loading, select the MT6575_Android_scatter_emmc2.txt from the Rootfix directory. It should look like this:

You phone is OFF. Take out the battery, put it back in. In the flash tool click on DOWNLOAD. Connect the phone to your pc via USB cable. If this is the first time you are doing this, your pc will start to look for the right drivers. Point Windows to the Driver directory inside the flash tool's directory. On Vista, it'll look something like this:

Object 5

If the drivers are installed, the whole procedure will look like this:

Object 5

Once the flashing process is done, take out the battery, put it back in and boot the phone. Your phone should now be rooted, a Super User application should be installed.

This procedure also works for the IHCT One X 4G+ phone (aka Star B79). MARKET FIX: Inside my download package you will find: com.android.vending-3.5.16.apk The idea is to copy this APK into the system/app folder and give it the right permissions. This can be done using the ROOT EXPLORER, but it can also be done with the LATEST version of the ES FILE EXPLORER DOWNLOAD Start the ES File Explorer and go into the settings:

Check "Up to Root", "Root Explorer" and "Mount File System". In advance, you have copied the com.android.vending-3.5.16.apk on you sd-card. find it and copy it to the system/app folder of your phone. Navigate into that directory, find the com.android.vending-3.5.16.apk long press it, click on Properties, click on Change to change the permssions to this:

DONE :-) Reboot your phone and enjoy.

YOU ARE DOING THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! Credit goes to: http://www.technoforum.it/forum/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=3318 ----------------------The latest firmare from Zopo or download it HERE This is how flashing looks like in "real time" (4 minutes of boredom) ;-)

--UPDATE Here's a firmware for the IHTC One X phone, dated April 2 2012, it should work on the ZP100 as well: DOWNLOAD Flashing instructions: copy: AAAAB3NzaC1kc3MAAACBANLc2NCufBz0lBUupztiXI7rUnhY3bOojTMmGD0SR68e8kK00E M5n0ghfpaDxayZD.zip and update.zip to the ROOT of your sd-card. Turn off the phone. Connect the phone with the usb-cable to the pc. Then press and hold Power and VOL + The update will start automatically.

1. ColonelZapApr 25, 2012 01:29 AM Hi :-) I don't know if you should take the risk? I have no idea if the bootloader is identical to the one of the ZP100, chances are you might brick your phone if you try this with the ZP200 :-( It MIGHT work but if I were you, I wouldn't dare to try this :-(

2. AnonymousApr 25, 2012 03:09 AM hello sir, thanx for the rooting info. it really helps me. i just bought my phone from merimobiles.com. can you tell me how to install the latest firmware, i mean procedure to install the latest firmware. Reply Replies

ColonelZapApr 25, 2012 03:16 AM Hi :-) Flashing a new firmware is the exact same procedure like rooting the phone. Of course you will have to use the "Scatter-loading" file from the firmware but the rest is identical. You'll find TWO of these *.txt files in the firmware package, take the one that ends with a "2" in the file name. Good luck :-)

3. AnonymousApr 25, 2012 06:54 AM Hi Colonel You do great job. Thanks for it One question. what is the best MTK6575 phone of the moment, according to you. In term of performance, but in term of brand and follow up by this brand. Thank you Reply

4. ColonelZapApr 25, 2012 06:58 AM Hi :-) I really can't tell you? I know that Zopo must be close to releasing an ICS firmware version: http://bbs.zopomobile.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=7413 Still buggy but hopefully coming soon? I also heard RUMORS that Lenovo will be releasing an ICS firmware for the A750 but I really can't say if that is true? Reply

5. AnonymousApr 26, 2012 06:26 AM sir please explain me step by step how to install the latest rom as i am new to android phone and the last phone which i used i never rooted it and never installed any custom rom on it please explain the procedure in detail and step by step. it will be a great help.

thank you Reply Replies

1. ColonelZapApr 26, 2012 06:52 AM It is exactly the same procedure like the rooting process you can see here. Only difference is, you need to use a different Scatter-Loading file that is included in the firmware download. You see, the rooting process is flashing only PART of the firmare (see the picture, only a preloader and a bootimage are checked), while flashing an entire firmware, other parts are checked and flashed in addition to that. But the procedure itself is the same.

2. AnonymousApr 26, 2012 09:31 AM thank you sir, i understood, but there is one problem when i open the firmware folder for scatter file, it shows 2 scatter file which one to select

3. ColonelZapApr 26, 2012 09:53 AM Take the one that ends with .....2.txt, that's what I used :-)

6. NeourbonApr 26, 2012 11:08 PM Mr colonelZap, what is the use of doing the Market Fix? Reply

7.

NeourbonApr 26, 2012 11:10 PM does the Market Fix works in IHCT One X 4G+ phone (aka Star B79) too? Reply Replies

1. ColonelZapApr 27, 2012 12:04 AM The B79 should have the market on it "out of the box", you only need to do the market fix if it's missing from the firmware.

8. NeourbonApr 27, 2012 12:29 AM ColonelZap, thanks for your quick reply. i have a problem installing gameloft games like Brother In Arm 2, it just say "your device is not compatible with this phone", but i'm very sure B79 or z100 is compatible with this game. Please help...thanks in advance. Reply Replies

1. ColonelZapApr 27, 2012 12:47 AM Sorry, I don't know how to fix that. MAYBE if you can somehow "fool" the market that your phone is a different device? For that the firgerprint needs to edited in the build.prop but I really don't know if that will do the trick.

2. NeourbonApr 27, 2012 12:56 AM Thanks, i'll try to edit build.prop and post the result.

3. ColonelZapApr 27, 2012 01:01 AM Thanks :-) Maybe this will work? -ro.build.description=GT-I9100-user 2.3.4 GINGERBREAD XXKG2 release-keys ro.build.fingerprint=samsung/GT-I9100/GTI9100:2.3.4/GINGERBREAD/XXKG2:user/release-keys ro.build.characteristics=tablet # end build properties -I used that on several tablets :-)

10. henry_linApr 28, 2012 11:32 AM Dear Sir, As per your instruction I did manage to rooted my Zopo ZP100 Phone and has google play installed in the device. However there is error when downloading (any file) from google play, it said: "(process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly" and have to force stop. Do you have any solution for this problem? Thanks You for your kind assistance. Reply Replies

1. ColonelZapApr 28, 2012 11:38 AM Hi :-)

Sometimes cleanring the cache of the Play Store helps. I haven't quite figured this problem out, I had that happen on several devices, somehow this error went away "by itself" after a while. Don't ask me why?!?

12. AnonymousApr 28, 2012 08:50 PM Some sources for Star b79 are charging to install things like Adobe Flash, Google Play, and to root the phone? In your opinion is it worth paying for these? (I have been using my Star A5000 just fine without anything done to it -- until I shattered screen) Reply Replies

1. ColonelZapApr 28, 2012 11:05 PM I would never pay for something like that, as you can see, rooting the phone and getting the play store on it sure isn't "magic". If I can do it, anyone can do it. Once you have the market on the phone, you can dowanload the latest version of the flash player for free, no need to pay anyone for that.

14. AnonymousApr 29, 2012 03:21 AM Hello ColonelZap, I just ordered the ZP100 from Elotalk and they charge extra for installing the Dutch language files. Aren't those already by default installed on this phone? Could you please check and confirm (or not) this for me? Reply Replies

1. ColonelZapApr 29, 2012 05:35 AM Hi :-) Check this out: http://i.imgur.com/WYJ6w.jpg

2. AnonymousApr 29, 2012 06:25 AM Ah okay, thanks. So the multi-language pack they try to sell me is just a rip-off scheme? Tssk...

18. AnonymousMay 2, 2012 01:54 AM Hello ! Thank you for your post. Just a feed back based on my experience concerning the firmware of the HTC on Z100. It works fine, I flashed 2 days ago on my damaged Zopo phone. Google Play works fine too, and the mobile isn't rooted. This experience is very positive at time (only 2 days), the translation (in French for my part)is better than the original one. JKlr Reply

1. ColonelZapMay 3, 2012 05:56 AM Hi and congrats :-) I don't think an ICS firmware is released, yet. The last thing I read was somehting about a beta version that is still buggy.

20. AnonymousMay 3, 2012 06:37 AM Hi Colonel, Thanks for your Zopo tutorial. Flashing, rooting and Google Play works well. Maybe you know how to change the Imei of Zopo phone? And the killer question, think you that is possible to change the frequency of modulator ( 850Mhz to 900 Mhz ) Reply Replies

1. ColonelZapMay 3, 2012 06:57 AM No idea about the IMEI. The frequencies: After rooting you should have a "Zopomobiles tools" on the phone. With that tool you can get into the Engineer Mode (MTK). At the bottom you can find Bandmode.

I've never tried to change anything there, don't know if it works, so please be very careful.
