InBev NV SA is the leading beer company with a volume share of 18%, thanks to a combined portfolio that includes leading beer brands like Budweiser, Becks, Stella Artois and Leffe. In addition, off-trade sales are boosted by regular promotional offers from MMI. The company also offers one of the most popular dark beers, Boddingtons. In 2010, Heineken NV ranked second in beer with a volume share of 9%, the same as 2009. Heineken, the companys flagship brand, elicits strong brand loyalty in the UAE. It held the largest share in lager alone with a retail value share of 11% of total lager sales in 2010. The Heineken brand relies on its strong popularity among the majority of nationalities as well as wide availability in most on-trade and off-trade outlets, and it is widely regarded as the mainstream beer brand in the UAE.
