By Tim King Retirements, promotions, and grant programs in the Todd County Health and Human Services Division put hiring at the center of the Todd County Commissioners meeting again on Tuesday, May 15. A June 29 retirement of a Certified Public Health Nurse will create problems completing work in the areas of Long Term Care Consultations, Personal Care Assessments, and numerous other work areas, according to Cheryl Schneider, Health and Human Services Director. Schneider asked commissioners to waive the 90-day wait to fill the position. She said doing so would save the county significant overtime pay. They agreed to waive the waiting period. Schneider said she would look within her department to fill the position. If we fill this position internally we will have to fill another opening, she said. I expect we will have to hire someone externally. Commissioners also agreed to allow Schneider to interview and hire two Social Workers for Mental Health services. The two positions are responsible for overseeing more than 100 cases in areas such as Sexual Offender Commitment and Mental Health Administration. Parade begins at 10 am at the Browerville High School ending at Christ the King Cemetery. In case of inclement weather program will be held at the high school.
