Chapter 8 Project
You will apply ratios and proportions to help you make a scale drawing of your bedroom.

You want to rearrange your bedroom but your parents say no. You decide to convince them by making a scale drawing (blueprint) to show how your room will look after you have reorganized it. Use proportions to draw a scale drawing of your room and at least 10 items that you currently have in your bedroom. For this project you will need to:

Measure the size of your bedroom (length and width to the nearest cm) Measure at least 10 items currently in your bedroom (length and width to the nearest cm) Decide on an appropriate scale to draw your blueprint (your drawing must fit on one sheet of graph paper)

Make a blueprint of your bedroom including the 10 items to scale: (See table below to help you)

Original Size Scale Factor for example: if my desk measures 60 cm by 90 cm

Proportion used to determine the size of your room and items in your blueprint. For example, if my desk measures 60 cm wide and my scale is real/drawing = 100cm/1cm then 60cm/x = 100cm/1cm (Show ALL work to solve proportion.)

Round your measurements to the nearest tenth of a cm. Size of Objects on Blueprint List the size you will draw each object on your blueprint Explain the math you used to solve this problem. Your strategies! Keep your work neat and organized. Make sure to use a ruler and label the distances on your blueprint. Look at some real blueprints online to see how neat and organized they look

Review attached rubric for grading! EXTRA CREDIT: Make a 3-D model of your blueprint (Note: You might want to choose a scale factor that would work for both your blueprint AND your model so that you dont have to do more calculations to make your model to scale.)
