Our Founding fathers saw the mess we are in coming. They gave us many tools to keep things running smoothly. Unfortunately we left them out in the rain and they have gotten rusty. Time to ll the barrel full of sand and oil and clean them up for use. One of the best tools is our vote. We shined that one up over the past year and used it fairly well. With a little more practice we may be able to use it to clean house in 2012. There is another tool they supplied us in the Constitution and it, in the right hands, can stop the federal government in its tracks. Article IV section 4 guarantees the States a Republican form of Government. That means the federal representatives must represent those in their State. They are not allowed to represent their party, or the Presidents agenda. Many of us have new Governors. Those elected ofcials need to take a rm stance toward the federal representatives from their States, and if they nd wrong doing, prosecute the offenders using this Constitutional Article. The lame duck session has run roughshod over this particular passage, and the bills passed need to be repealed on grounds of Unconstitutionality since they were not representing We the People, but rather trying to cram through all the socialist agenda before leaving. Those in ofce from the previous votes must still represent the people from their districts, even if those people have changed their minds on things or better yet woken to the madness and have different ideas than before. We the People do have the power and need to convince the State legislatures to use this tool in our name. So this new year needs to be focused on getting the States to control the federal government. This is the United STATES of America, not the Continental Government, or worse yet, One world government....at least not yet. Get to your Statehouses and make some noise! Make your voices heard and your faces seen. I think daily protests at the Statehouses is in order. If you work in your State capitol, march at lunch. The movement can be called A Sign and A Sandwich. Get your local Tea Party involved. Meet on the sidewalk in front of your capitol building, carry a sign and eat your lunch while you walk around the building. Think about what kinds of decisions will be made after more and more Doctors stop practicing, or only practice Privately and are no longer willing to accept Medicare/Medicaid and the funds are cut even further! They HAVE to go down, you cannot add more people to the system, with less money per person and less available medical professionals to give care without having to make decisions that will probably be even more difcult than these. CHICAGO (AP) In Illinois, a pharmacist closes his business because of late Medicaid payments. In Arizona, a young fathers liver transplant is canceled because Medicaid suddenly wont pay for it. In California, dentists pull teeth that could be saved because Medicaid doesnt pay for root canals. Example: In California, Medicaid no longer pays for many adult dental services. But it still pays for extractions, that is, tooth-pulling. The unintended consequence: Medicaid patients tell dentists to pull teeth that could be saved. The roots are ne. The tooth could be saved with a root canal, said Dr. Nagaraj Murthy, who practices in Compton, Calif. I had a patient yesterday. I said we could do a root canal. He said, No, its hurting. Go ahead and pull it. I dont have the money. Murthy recently pulled an elderly womans last tooth, but Medicaid no longer pays for dentures. Elderly patients suffer the most, Murthy said. Theyre walking around with no teeth. Or this: In Arizona, lawmakers stopped paying for some kinds of transplants, including livers for people with hepatitis C. When the cuts took effect Oct. 1, Medicaid patient Francisco Felix, who needs a liver, suddenly had to raise $500,000 to get a transplant. The 32-year-olds case took a dramatic turn in November when a friends wife died, and her liver became available. Felix was prepped for surgery in hopes nancial donations would come in. When the money didnt materialize, the liver went to someone else, and Felix went home. His doctor told him he has a year before hell be too sick for a transplant. They are taking away his opportunity to live, said his wife, Flor Felix. Its impossible for us or any family to get that much money. The family is collecting donations through a website and plans a yard sale this weekend, she said. Folks, this is happening NOW! Imagine what is going to happen as more and more debt is being piled on the American public under the guise of extending Rich peoples tax CUTS? Think there will be a surplus for the Healthcare? Gold gained for a second day in New York as a weaker dollar boosted demand for the precious metal as an alternative investment. The dollar fell to a three-week low against the euro on speculation the Federal Reserve may signal today its open to increasing debt purchases beyond the $600 billion already announced. Gold, which usually moves inversely to the greenback, reached a record $1,432.50 an ounce on Dec. 7. The U.S. dollar weakness is driving gold, Peter Fertig, owner of Quantitative Commodity Research Ltd. in Hainburg, Germany, said today by phone. Theres still an argument for further implementation of quantitative easing in the U.S. That would benet gold. We all know (or SHOULD know) by now that lies are just part of politicing, but we can never get out of this mess until we STOP lying about important things like oh, say the Unemployment rate for a starter. This article outlines many of the lies being handed to us every day that if they were honestly discussed might be able to be worked on. So much for Transparency, right? Welcome to the United States of Forclosure!

I came across this article about the forclosure mess and how things are not looking up. As a matter of fact we have yet to actually see the bottom of the housing market. As long as we allow these banks to hide iffy assets while still valuating them at the higest point, we are going to just have a slow bleed out. Google now offers this great feature that can overlay onto Google Maps and allows for the mapping of MLS active foreclosures. What are you looking at?

What you are seeing is 5.2 million Americans living in homes that are now 60, 90+ delinquent, or bank owned. The chart is the equivalent of a MRI scan on the housing market. Nationwide things are as bad as they have ever been. So you have to ask where did all those trillions of dollars that were supposed to help the housing market go? But I wanted to focus our attention on California and the current state of the foreclosure market. Welcome to the United States of Forclosure! 1 out of 5 mortgages in the US is either underwater, in foreclosure, or modied but not making any payments. In fact, today we have the largest number of distressed properties on the books. The only reason the numbers have fallen is because of the dirty current mortgages that are modied and are now temporarily in the performing bucket. Yet these default at 50 percent or higher rates so it is more can-kicking behavior. If we even do a cursory look of MLS foreclosures on a US map we realize that housing problems are still largely present. Here is a map courtesy of Google showing active foreclosures:

So 273,486 homes are in the foreclosure process but at out dont appear on the MLS. Now some dont appear for obvious reasons because they might be in the notice of default stage or are scheduled for auction. But we know that banks are merely dragging their feet and these will hit the market at some point.

There are some serious ramications for all of us at the end of this rabbit hole I am afraid.

Taxation Explained

The barter system is alive and well in this depressed economy. Even though bartering has been around since the beginning of humanity, Congress has decided it is a taxable event and has instructed the IRS to nd the bartering taxpayers and make them pay a tax on the trades. When anyone trades goods or services for other goods or services it is barter. The issue is whether or not it is a tax-related event that must be shown on the tax return. When I trade the preparation of a tax return for any service or goods, it is taxable income to me. The other person only has to show the equal value of the trade as income to them if they are in a business. If I receive dental work in trade, then the dentist must show the same value as income. If I trade tax return prep for apples and squash and the person I traded with is not a farmer, then that person does not show the barter as income while I do. I show the income and they get to write off the tax prep trade value on next years tax return as an expense. If the trade was with a farmer who les a farming tax return, then that person must show the trade as income. I show the income and they show the income. I get no tax write off for the food while the farmer gets to write off my fees. When my neighbor does my lawn and I give him a home-made apple pie fresh out of the oven there is no trade at all for either of us because he is not in the lawn care business and I am not a baker by trade. If I watch your children and you pay me with some car repairs and neither of us is in the daycare nor car repair business, then that is not a barter tax event. There are various ways to look at the barter system. If you trade your non-business services for medical care, then the doctor shows the income and you can use the trade value on your itemized deductions form A as a medical expense. When you give away your unwanted clothes to the Goodwill, you get a tax deduction. You traded goods for a value. That is not a form of barter. The Goodwill store shows the value of your donation as income and reports that to the IRS each year. You get a tax deduction. What the IRS is looking for in an audit is where a business does trades and does not show the income on the tax return. They are also looking for people who do a lot of trades and show nothing on their tax returns. I will stop here. I could go on for pages. This is a complicated area of tax law.

Will it take the destruction of most of the earth and its resources before people are enlightened? The escalating media and political reports are so far fetched, cunning, and so beyond reality, its as if each is trying to top the other with one sinister plot after the next. To demonstrate the outright lies by national governments and the media, lets take three examples from the last year alone, including the H1N1 scandal, airport body scanners and the BP oil disaster.

However organized, the tactics are very predictable in a world lled with lies and half-truths. This, sadly, includes every day news media, one of the worst offenders with respect to being a source of disinformation. A rational person participating as one interested in the truth will evaluate that chain of evidence and conclude either that the links are solid and conclusive, that one or more links are weak and need further development before conclusion can be arrived at, or that one or more links can be broken, usually invalidating (but not necessarily so, if parallel links already exist or can be found, or if a particular link was merely supportive, but not in itself key) the argument. The game is played by raising issues which either strengthen or weaken (preferably to the point of breaking) these links. Organized and Professional Disinformation Operations

Well-funded and highly-organized disinformation operations are in full-swing throughout the internet. From forums to comment boards and even professional websites that have only one purpose: Defame, distract, and destroy the truth.

Hey guys, I am not a very eloquent writer, but I am going to write a little something about this so called MYTH of hyperinflation. I was reading on some Well funded, Left leaning so called Media Outlet, an article on how Glenn Beck is spreading lies about Hyperinflation. I cannot tell you all how relieved I was when I read that article. I thought, ok... now you can breathe. The news about the recovery is right and I dont have to worry about prices going up. I went back to my busy life and worked on getting my holiday baking done. That required a visit to the store for a few extra goodies. Got home a little lighter in the wallet, but other than that none the worse for the wear. As I got the ingredients out for baking, I happened to notice that two of the items I had purchased had, what appeared to be, double stickers on them. (Up here in rural Michigan things actually still have stickers on them unlike the bigger cities where it is all bar-coded) I was curious to see how much the price had changed. The first item is a box of baking soda. Not an expensive item but I had just paid $.99 for it.

had not had the product on the shelf for too long. I looked at the second item, a small 8 ounce block of unsweetened chocolate. The price I paid, $3.19, the second price tag, $2.19! Ok... first $.10 is about 12% on the baking soda and I can swallow that (not happily mind you) but 1.00 increase on a previously 2.00 item is a 33% increase. This is the first of several to come I am sure. Keep in mind that this is product that was already on the shelf. They are prearing for the replacement price they will be paying when this stock is gone. I only purchased a few items on this trip so to have 2 of about 6 items have gone up that quickly tells me that maybe Hyperinflation is NOT a lie or fear tactic. Chocolate... I think I heard form the NIA that chocolate could be like the new Caviar of the middle class. You know what they say to the paranoids? Just because you think they are out to get you doesnt mean that they are NOT out to get you! Just a wandering of the mind. Goober Footnote: Since the writing of this article, I was at the store and I just happened to look at the chocolate I had bought 3 weeks ago that had already gone up from $2.19 to $3.19, well now it has gone from $3.19 to $3.49 but this time they peeled the other two stickers off... Good thing there is no hyperinflation huh?

As a newby to Chickens I think this article has some good points. I have looked for A denitive Book on how take care of my little buggers. Seems that offthegrid news located one and I for one am going to give it a shot. This is good for a couple of backyard urban chickens or a couple dozen laying hens and up. Hard Cover books that address important information on subjects at your ngertips. Although I am an avid internet user, I also print as many items on assorted subjects and have books on many. There have been a couple of times in my new life to chickens that both DH and I were scratching our heads not knowing what to do. A good book on the subject at hand would have saved some stress. As for owning Chickens? We love it. They are very easy to handle and are actually pretty cool. We like having fresh eggs and we sell all of the eggs we cannot consume to help pay for the feed. We also know that we have 12 fresh healthy Chickens to eat. They really are pretty easy to raise and if you make sure that you only have Hens, you never have to worry about fertilized eggs or neighbors really close by wanting to bomb your coop. We all know that going local is going to be a new buzzword in the coming years, this takes it to a new level. Start really small. If you live in a urban neighborhood and have backyards, start talking to your neigbors about growing your garden and you would like to share the experience. If there is a Church that has a plot of land with it consider asking the Pastor/Priest/Rabbi if they would support allowing the members to garden. You could even incorporate it into the youth group training. These guys have a good handle on it and I think many of our communities could benet in may ways from this. Even people who live in Condos w/balconies that have sun can garden and raise an appreciable amount of food in a relatively small space.

Community gardens are great for several reasons, in addition to the obvious one of creating a food resource in the area. They have the potential to bring people together in whole new ways, expand the knowledge base through education, improve the appearance of the neighborhood, and create a genuine community out of the people who currently simply live near each other. All this from a few radishes! Here are some steps to get started. Assess Take stock of yourself, your community, and what other resources may be available. Plan Once you have gathered your team of key players, it is time for the planning to start in earnest. Create While you are sure to hit some roadblocks along the way, once you have assessed who can help, have put a team together, and have planned the basics, now its time to try it out! Dont get so caught up in the planning that you never get it off the ground. Get people signed up, ready your dirt, and start growing! Simple Pie Crust

Ingredients 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled 3 cups all-purpose our 3 tablespoons white sugar 1/3 cup ice water Directions Combine our and sugar into the bowl of an electric mixer. Cut butter or margarine or butter and shortening into tablespoon pieces; add it to the our and sugar. Use the paddle beater to cut the butter and our together. Alternatively, this can be done by hand with a pastry blender. With the mixer on low speed , or while stirring the mixture with a fork, pour in the cold water. When the dough starts to clump, and before it turns into a ball, stop stirring. Lightly knead dough in the bowl until it forms a ball. Divide dough into two parts. Flatten each part into a disk, and chill for about 30 minutes before rolling.

Ingredients 4 russet potatoes, sliced into 1/4 inch slices 1 onion, small, chopped salt and pepper to taste 3 tablespoons butter 3 tablespoons all-purpose our 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 cups milk 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese Directions Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Butter a 1 quart casserole dish. Layer 1/2 of the potatoes into bottom of the prepared casserole dish. Top with the onion, and add the remaining potatoes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. In a medium-size saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Mix in the our and salt, and stir constantly with a whisk for one minute. Stir in milk. Cook until mixture has thickened. Stir in cheese all at once, and continue stirring until melted, about 30 to 60 seconds. Pour cheese over the potatoes, and cover the dish with aluminum foil. Bake 1 1/2 hours in the preheated oven.

Sticky Garlic Chicken Skewers

Fire up the Grill!!! These are always a hit at our house.

3 cloves garlic, crushed 2 T. honey 1/4 c. ketchup 1/4 c. worcestershire sauce 2 t. dijon mustard Salt and Pepper (optional) 3 skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cut into thin strips Soak a dozen 10 inch bamboo skewers in water for at least 20 min. Mix all ingredients in lg. glass bowl. Add chicken. Stir until coated. Cover and marinate for 30 min. (Or refrigerate over night) Thread onto skewers and cook over hot grill 5-6 minutes. (Can also be broiled in the oven for 6-7 mins. turning occasionally until well browned and cooked through) While we are on the subject of Skewers...... Heres an easy to make lunch idea. Perfect for those lunch time protests at your State Capital!!! Cook a package of tortellini according to directions ( I usually cook for a min. less than called for so they do not get mushy). Cool in a colander with cold water to stop cooking. Marinate in a bowl with your favorite Italian dressing. Put on wooden skewers. You can alternate tortellini with cherry tomatoes, olives, artichoke hearts, pepperoni or what ever you may like! There you have it, you can hold your protest sign in in one hand and your lunch on a stick in the other..:-)

Grilled Zucchini Stuffed With Corn

3 medium succhini vegetable oil spray (optional) 2/3 c. canned corn with red and green peppers, drained Cut zucchini lengthwise in half. Scoop center from zucchini; discard. Spray outside of zucchini lightly with oil, if desired (fat free Italian dressing can also be used, or put the zucchini on foil on the grill instead of directly on the grill). Spoon corn into zucchini shells. Cover and grill zucchini, cut sides up, 4-6 inches from medium coals 10-12 minutes or until zucchini is crisp-tender and stufng is hot. 6 servings.

. My husband has a long record of money problems. He runs up huge credit-card bills and at the end of the month, if I try to pay them off, he shouts at me, saying I am stealing his money. He says pay the minimum and let our kids worry about the rest, but already we can hardly keep up with the interest. Also he has been so arrogant and abusive toward our neighbors that most of them no longer speak to us. The few that do are an odd bunch, to whom he has been giving a lot of expensive gifts, running up our bills even more. Also, he has gotten religious. One week he hangs out with Catholics and the next with people who say the Pope is the Anti-Christ, and the next hes with Muslums. Finally, the last straw.
