Wirtgen Group inaugurates its new production facility near Pune

Wirtgen Group headquartered in Germany is the worlds No 1, in the field of mobile road construction and rehabilitation equipment. The companys new factory in Pune comprises a 2700 m administration centre and training building alongside a 3600 m factory, built to the same standard as Wirtgen Groups production facilities in Germany. It includes a shot blasting system, a paint facility and a spare parts depot, while machines are assembled on a 60 m long production line, equipped with overhead cranes, with a load bearing capacity of 10 tonnes each and supported by slewing pillar cranes. The series production of Hamms new Type 311 single-drum compactors is successfully in progress. With the Hamm 311, we have developed a model that is designed specifically for the Indian market. This singledrum compactor corresponds to the high standards of quality of the Wirtgen Group, but is manufactured locally so that the pricing allows us to prevail on this highly competitive market, explains Mr. Ramesh Palagiri, Managing Director of Wirtgen India. The 11 tonne single-drum compactor for earthworks is a high-performance compactor that caters perfectly to the customary bidding requirements in India. A team of engineers and technicians from directly on a Wirtgen Surface Miner or a large Vgele Asphalt Paver. The facility also has a test track to train operators in Asphalt Paving. Wirtgen India has also invested in a new highly advanced workshop, where as many as four machines can overhauled simultaneously. The spares depot covers a floor space of 600 m, from where spare parts are supplied to all the regional offices as well as directly from Pune. The Wirtgen Group already has maintained a strong presence in India since 1995 with local Sales and Service centres in Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Guwahati. Havells To Double Its Switchgear Business

L&T bags New Orders worth Rs 4100 Cr in Buildings & Factories IC

Larsen & Toubros (L&T) Buildings & Factories Independent Company part of its Construction Division has secured new orders worth Rs. 4100 crore during the first quarter of FY2012 for the construction of airport expansion, hospital, commercial, residential buildings including factories. L&T has secured new orders aggregating to Rs. 1638 crore in the Commercial Buildings & Airports business from reputed customers which includes design & construction of airport terminal expansion, hospital and medical college and other commercial buildings. It has also secured orders worth Rs. 2051 crore for the construction of residential towers from leading developers across major cities. New orders worth Rs. 411 crore has been secured for the construction of factories from esteemed clients including additional orders in the ongoing contracts. Four construction PSUs likely to be merged

Four major construction PSUs, of which two are sick, may be merged to achieve greater synergy between companies like NBCC and HSCL. The companies which are being considered for merger are National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), Hindustan Prefab Ltd (HPL), National Project Construction Corporation Ltd (NPCC) and Hindustan Steelworks Construction Ltd (HSCL). The proposal for merger was discussed at the meeting of the BRPSE in June where the reconstruction board felt that all these companies in one way or other are engaged in construction activities and possess synergies. A combined entity by way of merger may create a giant company and are capable of becoming a navratna firm. (PTI)

ABB to provide High Efficiency Solutions for Solar Energy Applications in India
ABB Limited, India, has won orders worth 161 million (MINR) to supply turnkey power and automation solution for three photovoltaic solar power plants with a combined capacity of 11 megawatts (MW) in India. The orders comprise of two 5 MW photovoltaic (PV) solar power plants and one 1 MW photovoltaic (PV) solar power plant. When completed in October this year, the plants will have an annual generating capacity of up to17.6 Gigawatthours of electricity, avoiding approximately 12500 MTs of CO2 emissions per year, equivalent to the annual emissions of about 3100 Indian cars. ABB is responsible for the design, engineering, manufacturing, installation commissioning of the plants and will deliver the turnkey electrical and control solution within an extremely short time span of sixteen weeks. Key products to be supplied include inverters, low-voltage equipment, medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, cables, distributed control systems, remote monitoring systems and auxiliary systems. Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC): An Innovative Building Material for Securing Sustainable Future
utoclaved Aerated concrete (AAC), is a revolutionary material offering an unique combination of high durability and strength, light weight, unprecedented buildability and superior ecological green features. AAC is a high-quality, load-bearing and extremely well insulating building material. AAC is a long proven material. It has successfully been used in Europe since early last century and is now among the mostly used wall building materials in Europe with rapidly growing market shares in Asia, the Middle East and America. In India it has also started to gain acceptance. AAC is produced in a variety of forms from blocks, to structural floor and wall panels. It is possible to construct virtually an entire house from autoclaved aerated concrete, including walls, floors. Building with AAC is simple and efficient. The material is soft enough to be cut easily onsite with hand tools or bandsaws. Construction is fast, since the blocks and panels are lightweight, yet large and easy to assemble. Because of its unique physical structure, AAC provides much greater thermal insulation than conventional masonry. Pest Resistance AAC is impervious to attack by insects and termites. There are no voids for insects/pests to make homes. Termites or insects will not attack AAC Concrete products, nor can AAC be penetrated by termites or insects. This feature reduces the need for pesticides while maintaining maximum protection against damage to the building and contents. Acoustic Insulation AAC has been shown to provide better sound insulation and absorption than any other solid building material under comparable conditions. This makes it ideal for construction projects that require a high level of acoustic insulation, such as apartments, hotels and entertainment facilities. Since its porous internal structure is comprised of 6070% air, the material absorbs much more sound than conventional concrete, effectively reducing sound wave transmission. Walls, floors and roofs constructed with AAC reduce the transmission of sound 7 db greater than other building material of the same weight.

Fire Resistant Autoclaved aerated concrete provides the highest security against fire and meets the most stringent fire safety requirements. Due to its purely mineral composition, AAC is classified as a non-combustible building material. It is both resistant to fire up to 1200 C and, unlike other construction materials, heat-resistant. Therefore AAC can be used as a fire wall to prevent fire from spreading, thereby protecting lives and economic assets. In principle a fire wall should last up to four hours, but tests have shown that an 150 mm thick AAC fire wall can resist at least for six hours. he 5th International Conference on Autoclaved Aerated Concrete is an international conference of the European Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Association (EAACA). This conference is going to be held in Bydgoszcz, Poland from 14-17 September 2011. The European AAC Association (EAACA), established in 1988, promotes autoclaved aerated concrete and represents the interests of its members, who are AAC producers. At present, the biggest producer of AAC in Europe is Poland, which produces almost 1/3 of the whole of the EAACA production. The initiative of the Polish Concrete Producers Association (SPB) to organise the 5th International Conference on Autoclaved Aerated Concrete in Poland is connected with the celebration of 60 years of AAC in Poland. At that time one of the first AAC factories was established in the region of Bydgoszcz. Thus the subtitle of the conference emphasizes 60 years of AAC as a traditional material in Poland and the influence of using this material on Polands reconstruction after World War II and housing modernization. The paste should be kept away from direct sunlight, heat and used within 2 hours of preparation (after mixing with water.)
