Product Release Letter AVEVA OpenSteel 2.2 Full Release 51987 Windows XP and 7
This letter introduces and describes this release, which is supported on the indicated platform(s).

This Release Contains


A full release of AVEVA OpenSteel, which replaces the full release 51931 AVEVA OpenSteel 2.1 and earlier versions installed either separately or as features of a PDMS install. The separately licensed products or product components installable from or upgraded by this release are as follows: Product Code

Prerequisite for this release - products:
AVEVA PDMS 11.6 up to SP5, 12.0 series up to SP6 , 12.1.1 Flexman 5.2 and an appropriate Flexman licence. Flexman 5.2 will be required for support of PDMS 12.0.SP6 (onwards) on Windows 7.

AVEVA Licensing Library


All products in this release include the AVEVA licensing library cadcflex 5.2; please refer to the Flexman 5.2 Installation and Configuration Guide (or later) or the Licensing section of the AVEVA support website http://support.aveva.com for a list of licensing features supported by this version of cadcflex.

Works (is compatible) with:


AVEVA PDMS 11.6, 12.0 (all Service Packs), 12.1.1 SDNF version 2 and 3.

Supersedes:
This release supersedes the previous releases of AVEVA OpenSteel either separately installed, or installed as an optional feature of a PDMS install.

To Install product release:


Please read the installation guide, which is visible on the CD/DVD and will be placed under the product\manuals folder once the product install (setup.exe) has been run.

This product release is first available on AVEVA DVD AVEVA PDMS 12.1.1 and associated products, release number 41021.

PRODUCT QUALITY STATEMENT
The development, maintenance and testing of AVEVA Solutions software products is carried out in accordance with the companys KEYSTONE lifecycle processes and this document includes a summary of the testing carried out on this release and a list of significant defects known to exist at the time of release.

Development Testing
Developers have carried out unit testing of each enhancement and/or fix in the development environment to verify that any new functionalities have been correctly implemented and identified defects have been corrected. Regression tests have been run in the development environment to verify that enhancements and/or fixes have not adversely affected the integrity of the product.

System Testing
Independent system testing has been carried out on the product, as released, to verify that it installs correctly in all supported configurations and that product functionality operates as intended, subject to any known exceptions listed below.

Acceptance Testing
This document has been prepared before Acceptance Testing. This product release will be subjected to an acceptance test by AVEVAs Group Solutions Centre. Any exceptions found during Acceptance Testing or after release will be reported in the Product Release Latest Update Note on AVEVA's support web site http://downloads.aveva.com/51987/w51987.pdf .

Exceptions Significant Defects And Recommended Workarounds


AVEVA intends to fix the defects listed below in a fix release or service pack as soon as reasonably possible. Incident number Defect number P-30281 Description There is a possible conflict of OpenSteel with PSI, MDS, Nuclear and other applications at PDMS12 When OpenSteel is running alongside some of the other add-on applications, such as Pipe Stress Interface (PSI), Multi-Disciplinary Supports (MDS) etc. In the PDMS12 environment, PDMS may fail to initialise. Recommended Workaround In order to work around this, ensure that OpenSteel has been installed in a folder that does not have a space in any of its path components. Then use the opensteel_env_116.bat batch file to start OpenSteel. Consult the Configuration Guide, section 3.4.

Incident number Defect number Description There is a known issue with semi-circular arc members from Tekla Structures The vectors for semi-circular members that are transferred in an SDNF file from Tekla Structures are inconsistent with the SDNF standard. Importing such members from Tekla Structures should not cause a problem, but exporting them back to Tekla Structures may give incorrect results. Recommended Workaround
