Your modem must have connection speeds from 56Kbps (dial up modem) upwards. However
printing and file transfer may be slow across dial up links.
Your computer will need to have certain specifications to be powerful enough to support
the applications that you may want to use.
To run Office 2007 on the Managed Windows Service (MWS) you must ensure you
have:-

Computer and processor 500 megahertz (MHz) processor or higher .
2 gigahertz (GHz) processor or higher and 1 GB RAM or
higher recommended for OneNote Audio Search.
Close-talking microphone required.
Memory 256 megabyte (MB) RAM or higher
512 MB RAM or higher recommended for Outlook Instant
Search. Grammar and contextual spelling in Word is not
turned on unless the machine has 1 GB memory.
Hard disk 2 gigabyte (GB); a portion of this disk space will be freed
after installation if the original download package is removed
from the hard drive.
Drive CD-ROM or DVD drive
Display 1024 x 768 or higher resolution monitor
Operating system Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack (SP) 2, Windows
Server 2003 with SP1, or later operating system

How to Access the University system at home.
Go to your internet web browser, you will find it by double left clicking your mouse.

The First time you use this system remotely (at home) you will have to set your Citrix
Java connection. You only have to do this once.
Click on

This will allow you to use the following applications
Acrobat Reader
Internet Explorer 7
Excel 2007
Word 2007
Powerpoint 2007
Just click on any of the icons and it will connect you to the application WHILE YOU
ARE ONLINE.
You cannot download these applications; you can only use them while you are
connected to the University.
You can then say the work you do to your M: drive, or if you are working from home
you can go to My Computer and connect to your home drives.
Please be aware that it will rename your home drives, so your hard-drive which is
normally C: may become H:.
Do not open any document file created in Word 2007 in an earlier version of the
programme or in OpenOffice software as it will change the file. Word 2007 documents
have a .docx file name extension.
