Creativity Award City of Marsciano


5th Edition September 2012

The Premio Creativit Citt di Marsciano (Creativity Award City of Marsciano) is inside the planning of the 8th edition of the event Marsciano Arte Giovani, that will take place on September 2012. The main purpose of the challenge is the increase in value of the emergent art and the individuation of new and original lines of research. For this reason, crowning achievement of the challenge will be the anthology exhibition with the selected work of arts, that will take place on September at the Museo Dinamico del Laterizio e delle Terrecotte di Marsciano (Brickworks and Earthenware Museum of Marsciano), where prestigious exhibitions took place, like that one dedicated to Marc Chagall on 2007 and that one dedicated to Salvador Dal on 2011. Inspired to the same purposes is the individuation of a qualified judges, and the President of this judges, Mr. Bruno Cor, offers certain guarantee for competences and international prestigious.

Section I: General rules of the challenge


Par. 1 The Municipality of Marsciano in occasion of the 8th edition of the event Marsciano Arte Giovani, calls the challenge Creativity Award City of Marsciano. Par. 2 Involvement price The involvement amount is 10,00 (ten) Euros, to pay on the current account of the Municipality of Marsciano: BIC SWIFT: UNCRITM1J26 - UniCredit Banca, agenzia di Marsciano Reason for payment: Iscrizione concorso MAG 2012.

Par. 3 Participants Everyone who still isnt 36 years old at the deadline of the present announcement, July 16th 2012, can enter at the concourse. Par. 4 Collective exhibition at the Museum of Marsciano At least the judges will select 30 artists between all the involvement requests received. The artists selected will participate at the death of the concourse and their artworks will be exhibited in the rooms dedicated to the temporary exhibitions of the Brickworks and Earthenware Museum of Marsciano, starting from September 7th (date of the beginning of the Festival) until September 23rd 2012. Par. 5 Mounting In order to allow the artists can collaborate at the mounting of the exhibition and to assure the organic of the mounting, the preparation will be assigned to the coordinating authority and to the direction of the organizers with the aid of the participants of the challenge. Therefore the artists must go to the show floor with them artworks in the days of the mounting, starting from August 25th Saturday until August 29th Wednesday at the time that will be arranged with the organization who will call the artists for this reason. For the artists who are unable to cooperate (for engagements or place of residence out of Umbria), the mounting will be decided by the organizers. Par. 7 Clauses The artworks already presented for the concourse, or already exhibited for the previous editions of Marsciano Arte Giovani, or already awarded in others challenges cannot enter at the present edition of the award. Par. 8 Articulation of the concourse The concourse is dedicated to the visual arts and it is open to the following categories: 1. Painting 2. Sculpture 3. Installation 4. Video Art 5. Photography Par. 9 Deadline The deadline of the concourse is July 16th 2012 (for the registrations sent by post it is important the postal stamp). Par. 10 Aims and method The concourse wants to award, in line with the philosophy that inspires the Festival, the creative and innovation skills of the emerging artists. First of all judges will put their attention on the originality of the proposal, on the research or on the conquest of an independent and individual artistic personality as free as possible from procedures consolidated already. Technique, language and style will be valued in relation to the expressive quality of the artwork: like way or instrument to pronounce a new word, mark of a sensibility, of an approach, of a personal and identifiable way of research.

Par. 11 It is possible to participate at the concourse with one single artwork, belonging to one of the categories admitted. Par. 12 Prizes Following prizes will be awarded: 1st classified: 800,00 net Euros; artist Mario Treqquatrinis sculpture-plate; certificate of the judges. 2nd classified: 400,00 net Euros; certificate of the judges. 3rd classified: 200,00 net Euros; certificate of the judges. Special prize Scambio dautore (for artists until 18 years old) The initiative Scambio dautore provides for an artist, who participated to one of past editions of the event, donates an artwork of himself like award, choosing the recipient whom the artist considers more newsworthy between who still arent 18 years old on July 14th 2012 (deadline). Special prize Esponi nel museo This award consist in a personal exhibition to set up in the expositive spaces of the rooms dedicated to the temporary exhibitions of the Brickworks and Earthenware Museum. The prize includes the certificate of the judges and the publicity for the promotion of the exhibition: printing A3 format posters, leaflets A5 format, invitation cards and sending of them. The Directive Council of Marsciano Arte Giovani will cooperate for the organization of the exhibition. Selected artists To all selected artists for the final phase it will be presented a selection and participation certificate to the exhibition of Marsciano Arte Giovani 2012 (see Par. 4 of this section). The certificate will be signed by the president of the judges Prof. Bruno Cor. Par. 13 Prize-giving The prize-giving, with the presenting of the awards and of the selection certificates, will take place on September 9th 2012, in the afternoon, in the Saletta conferenze (Lectures room) of the Brickworks and Earthenware dynamic Museum. 5

Par. 14 The judges The judges will be presided by Prof. Bruno Cor, one of most competent and expert professionals in the sector of contemporary art; moreover the judges will be composed by Prof. Emidio De Albentis (Professor of Art History at School of Fine Arts Pietro Vannucci in Perugia Italy), by Dr. Alessandra Migliorati (Professor of Contemporary Art History at University of Studies in Perugia) and by Dr. Massimo Mattioli (managing editor of Art Tribune news). Bruno Cor, art critic and historian, currently is a member of the Executive Committee of Palazzo Albizzini Foundation - Burri Collection of Citt di Castello. He has been professor at the School of Fine Arts Pietro Vannucci in Perugia (1979-1999), University of Cassino (1999 - 2005) and of Florence (2005 - 2008). He is founder and director of the AEIUO review (1980 - 1988), and of the MOZART periodical (2012) on forthcoming publication. He has been director of Museo Pecci of Prato (1995 - 2002), of Palazzo Fabroni of Pistoia (1993 2001), of CAMeC of La Spezia (2003 - 2007), of Museo d'Arte and of Cultural Centre of Lugano (2008 - 2010). Furthermore he has been director of Biennial of Carrara (2006) and of La Spezia (2004 and 2006) and he has been Commissioner for Italy for Biennial of Dakar (2002). He has taken care many international exhibitions and he is the author of publications about: Alberto Burri, Lucio Fontana, Antoni Tpies, Enrico Castellani, Daniel Buren, Gerhard Richter, Costas Tsoclis, Mario Merz, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Giulio Paolini, Alighiero Boetti, Sol Lewitt, Jannis Kounellis, Gilbert & George, Francesco Lo Savio and others. Par. 15 Restitution of the artworks Every artworks will be given back, the participants will have directly to pick up their artworks at Brickworks and Earthenware dynamic Museum of Marsciano (place of the event and of the expositions) after the closing date of the exhibition, following the opening time of the museum (Phone: + 39 075 874 1152), since September 27th until September 30th 2012. Artworks coming outside from Umbria will be sent back by the organizers, with postage paid by addressee, by a courier specialized in transportation of breakable material. The organizers arent responsible of damages caused by others to the artworks, during the expositive and transporting phase.

Par. 16 Delivery of the registration material Participation requests and the attached material will have to be posted or delivered by hand. If the artworks will be delivered by hand, they will have to be delivered at: Museo dinamico del laterizio e delle terrecotte di Marsciano (Brickworks and Earthenware dynamic Museum of Marsciano), Piazzetta San Giovanni, 06055 Marsciano (PG), following the opening time of the museum (Phone: + 39 075 874 1152). If posted, the artworks will have to be posted to the same address, at the attention of Carolina Filizzola.

Section II: material to deliver for the participation at the concourse and features of the artworks
Par. 1 For all categories, in the main envelope containing the material described in the following paragraphs, you have to put inside of it another closed and anonymous envelope, containing the following material: -Participation form and the receipt of payment. -In case of minor: a copy of a valid identity document of a parent or of who has the parental authority. The parent or who has the parental authority has to sign the registration form. Par. 2 Painting category (We accept every artwork realized with every technique over every support, i.e.: oil, acrylic, ink, vinyl, watercolour, graffiti, carvings, printings, printings of digital works, canvas, paper, wood ecc.). For Painting category, in addition to the necessary material for all categories explained at the Par. 1 of this section, you have to deliver the following material: One CD-Rom containing the following files: 1. A picture of the artwork you participate at the concourse with. This picture has to represent the artwork completely, in tiff or jpg format, high resolution, and situated inside a folder named Opera a concorso (Artwork for concourse). 2. A minimum of 3 others photos in order to represent the artwork for the concourse, in tiff or jpg format, high resolution, inside the same folder of the previous Par. 1. 3. At least 3 photos of 3 other artworks out of concourse, in tiff or jpg format, high resolution, inside a folder named Opere fuori concorso (Artworks out of concourse). 4. Short explicative commentary of the same artwork, in one file in doc format with the title: Introduzione allopera (Introduction to the artwork). 8

Par. 3 Sculpture category (We accept sculptures realized by every typology and every material). For Sculpture category, in addition to the necessary material for all categories explained at the Par. 1 of this section, you have to deliver the following material: One CD-Rom containing the following files: 1. At least 3 photos of the artwork with whom you participate at the concourse, represented in full, but from three different angles, in tiff or jpg format, high resolution, and situated inside a folder named Opera a concorso (Artwork for concourse). 2. A minimum of three other photos in order to represent the details of the artwork used for the concourse, in tiff or jpg format, high resolution, and these three photos have to be situated inside the same folder of the Par. 1. 3. At least 3 photos of 3 other artworks out of concourse, in tiff or jpg format, high resolution, inside a folder named Opere fuori concorso (Artworks out of concourse). 4. Short explicative commentary of the same artwork, in one file in doc format with the title: Introduzione allopera (Introduction to the artwork). Par. 4 Installation category (We accept every kind of installation that use every typology of objects and materials. The installation will have not to exceed the following dimensions: 2,5 m high, 3 m width, 3 m deep) For Installation category, in addition to the necessary material for all categories explained at the Par. 1 of this section, you have to deliver the following material: One CD-Rom containing the following files: 1. At least 4 photos of the artwork with whom you participate at the concourse, represented in full, from four different angles, in tiff or jpg format, high resolution, and situated inside a folder named Opera a concorso (Artwork for concourse).

2. A minimum of three other photos in order to represent the details of the artwork used for the concourse, in tiff or jpg format, high resolution, and these three photos have to be situated inside the same folder of the Par. 1. 3. At least 3 photos of 3 other artworks out of concourse, in tiff or jpg format, high resolution, inside a folder named Opere fuori concorso (Artworks out of concourse). 4. Short explicative commentary of the same artwork, in one file in doc format with the title: Introduzione allopera (Introduction to the artwork). Par. 5 Video Art For Video Art category, in addition to the necessary material for all categories explained at the Par. 1 of this section, you have to deliver the following material: 1. A video with the maximum duration of 20 minutes in avi or mpeg format, burnt in a DVD or CD. 2. Another one CD containing a short explicative commentary of the presented artwork, in one file in doc format with the title: Introduzione allopera (Introduction to the artwork). Par. 6 Photography For Photography category, in addition to the necessary material for all categories explained at the Par. 1 of this section, you have to deliver the following material: One CD-Rom containing: 1. Tiff or jpg file of the photo of the concourse (a high resolution scanning of the negative will have to be sent in case of analogical photo) put inside a folder named Opera a concorso (Artwork for concourse). 2. Tiff or Jpg high resolution files of at least 5 out of concourse photos, put inside a folder named Opere fuori concorso (Artworks out of concourse).

Artwork admitted at the Photography category: Photographic artwork indifferently produced by digital or film camera, with free subject, are admitted. In case of selection to the final phase of the concourse, the candidate will have to post or deliver the stamp on a rigid support (you can choose among forex of 3 4 mm, aluminium, paperboard, wood ecc.). The stamp will have to have a minimum dimension of 30 cm, and maximum of 150 cm. The relationship between high and width is free. Par. 6a Who participates at the concourse in the category of Photography, engages to fulfil, if necessary, every connected to the privacy and the authorization of the painted individuals on the base of the Law n. 633 of April 22nd 1941 (G.U. of 07.16.1941 n.16 and later changes). The Municipality of Marsciano isnt responsible of the violation of the same law that wholly will relapse over the author of the photos. Par. 7 Prize-giving The prize-giving, with the delivery of the awards and of the selection certificate, will take place on September 9th 2012 in the afternoon, in the Saletta conferenze (Lectures room) of the Brickworks and Earthenware dynamic Museum of Marsciano.
