students are not reading and working through text material. Detailed assignment information is given on Blackboard. Successful completion of this course is directly related to a students level of commitment, discipline, and participation. The course is structured by a progression format, with class 2 building upon the content from class 1, and so on. If a student falls behind, it is nearly impossible to catch up. So, please adhere to the course structure and assignment deadlines. It is the students responsibility to read and work his/her way through the textbook exercises, check the Blackboard site, submit the assignments, and ask questions when necessary. Assignments are to be submitted via Blackboard by the due date and time posted. Your grade will be reduced if you turn in your assignment after the due date and time. The late submission deduction is 25% per day. Assignments can only be submitted once. All assignments and quizzes must be completed by the last class in order to receive credit. Technical difficulties are not necessarily a valid excuse for late assignments. In the event of an emergency that prevents an assignment being turned in on time, the student will need to provide documentation of the situation (such as a letter from a physician) and the instructor will determine if the situation warrants an extension.
The quizzes in this course are designed to provide feedback regarding your progress toward achieving the Learning Outcomes.

Quizzes

Quizzes are available during a specified time period listed in the course schedule. If missed, quizzes cannot be made up nor can quizzes be taken at an earlier time. Technical difficulties are not necessarily a valid excuse for missing a quiz. A comprehensive final project will be assigned integrating the concepts and skills covered during the semester. Regular attendance is mandatory. Since this is an online course, this means logging on to the Blackboard site and reading your Carlow email, at minimum, twice a week. As this is an online course, participation grade for the course is earned by responding to discussion board questions. To earn full-credit for the discussion board participation points, students must respond by the day/time posted on Blackboard with a comprehensive and accurate post. Students must also reply to at least one of their classmates posts.

Final Project Attendance

Discussion Board Participation

How the participation grade is earned: Students will earn 6 points for participating in each discussion board main topic in a comprehensive and timely manner. Participation will be computed using a 6-point scale from 1 to 6 where 1 means little or minimum participation, 3 means average participation, and 6 means outstanding or above average participation. See the course discussion board area for discussion board post examples. There is a 25% deduction per day for discussion board posts posted after the due date/time.

Thus, in keeping with the mission, the University has chosen to offer assistance to those with temporary conditions such as short term illnesses, injuries, or other temporary medical conditions. While the University is not required to provide such support under the Americans with Disabilities Act, some assistance may be arranged via the Disability Services Office (DSO). Dedicated to the teaching of values as well as skills, Carlow expects students to assume personal responsibility for their actions. Specific written guidelines are available in the Carlow University Student Handbook. Failure to maintain academic integrity results in specific disciplinary actions. Academic Integrity

so is dishonest. To call the work of another ones own is theft, if done without the other persons consent. Students should avoid forms of academic dishonesty including: 1. CHEATING: Stealing examinations or receiving stolen examinations, giving or receiving information relevant to the content of examinations, and using unauthorized books, notes or papers during examinations are dishonest acts. 2. FORGERY: It is dishonest to sign anothers name to examinations or other academic papers. 3. PLAGARISM: In college courses, we are continually engaged with other peoples ideas: we read them in texts, hear them in lecture, discuss them in class, and incorporate them into our own writing. As a result, it is very important that we give credit where it is due. Morally and legally, a writers words and ideas are her/his personal property. To copy or paraphrase a writers words or to use her/his ideas without giving credit to her/him is dishonest and illegal. It is also dishonest to buy or accept anothers work and present it as ones own. Plagiarism: How to avoid it Cite your sources using the APA style of documentation. To avoid plagiarism, you must give credit whenever you use Another persons idea, opinion, or theory; Any facts, statistics, graphs, drawings--any pieces of information--that are not common knowledge; Quotations of another persons actual spoken or written words; or Paraphrase of another persons spoken or written words. Plagiarism Policy of the School of Management: The School of Management uses the APA style of documentation. There is a zero tolerance policy for plagiarism in the School. First Offense: If a student plagiarizes in any way, he or she will automatically fail the assignment in question. Second Offense: The student will receive a final grade of F for the course. Carlow Universitys Procedures for Violations of Academic Integrity: Any student violating the standards of academic integrity and adversely affecting the worth and conduct of a course or courses of study may be penalized by the faculty. Original jurisdiction falls to the faculty member responsible for the course in which the infraction occurred. Individual faculty who have original jurisdiction in a case involving student violation of standards of academic integrity may impose the following sanctions or penalties: 1. DISCLIPLINARY WARNING: A written statement expressing disapproval of conduct to be sent to the Academic Dean. 2. DISCLIPINARY EVALUATION: A grade reduction on an assignment or examination. Students may also be required to repeat assignments or examinations. 3. DISMISSAL: Exclusion from a course for a specified period of time. Such action may result in a final grade of F. Notification is sent to the Academic Dean. 4. FAILURE: A final grade of F for a course. Notification is sent to the Academic Dean.
