Course Objective The course begins with an in-depth tour of the Excel environment and includes many helpful shortcuts and tips for mastering the functions in Excel. Students apply this knowledge to creating spreadsheet models, powerful tools for analyzing data and making business decisions. Spreadsheet Modeling using Excel is a powerful way of maintaining and supporting business data and converting it into sensible and valuable information. It is explained in the form of a Simulation which models a business data thoroughly. Businesses can create their own simulations by training one of their management people or by hiring an outside consulting firm to create the simulation and then train a small group of managers how to manipulate, input, and export information from the simulation. A tremendous amount of "if-then" variables can be added into Excel to produce numerous business simulation outcomes. Excel simulation can be a profound tool which allows the general manager to play with his companies numbers to experiment with a tremendous amount of potential outcomes. The advantage of the simulations is that the decision maker can play through his anxieties and see what may happen even in the worst case scenario. The best simulations allow the manager to change every variable, even the likelihood of the stock market to fluctuate, or the ability to expand inventory facilities. Quizzes 30% (Surprise Quiz) Developing Dashboard 70% Dashboard reports allow managers to get high-level overview of the business and help them make quick decisions. Dashboards are often called as management dashboards or information dashboards or dashboard reports. Students will have to create the dashboards for corporate using all the learning received from the sessions. This dashboard would be the key take away of the course. Projects would be given to individual groups in the class.

Themes

Selecting and Translating data into sensible information

Autofill: - To create a list that can be filled automatically. For eg; Month, Days, Dates etc. and also to create a custom list. Shortcuts keys: - Shortcuts which provide easier and quicker access to navigate through worksheets Converting text to columns: - To open another application file into excel To split combined data into Different columns, such as a first name and last name; or city, state, and zip code. This type of combined data often results when you open or import files created in another application. Split content based on a delimiter Split cell content based on a column break

Conditional formatting: - Customizing formats of the cells according to our conditions. For eg. To show outliers or potential numbers that are a potential issue, Comparing of the values, highlighting outliers, specific set of values Paste Special: To specify other options, such as pasting only the cell contents (without the formatting) or only the formatting (without the cell contents) For Eg:- Values, formats, validation etc. Perform some math when you paste based on the value(s) in the copied or cut cell(s) and the value in the target cell(s) For eg:- Add, multiply etc. Other functions:- For eg:-Transpose, Paste link etc. Referencing: - Cell referencing: - Relative and Absolute, To ensure that the formulas are working as expected when you copy them to another location in the worksheet. Charts: - A great way of representing data, almost every chart type and makes it easier to draw them so that your data can quickly understood in a graphical format.
