The Nahual: The Prehispanic Werewolf Occult theories about the origin of the human race suggests that

man must have evolved through different forms minerals, plants and animals before reaching its current state. This is a primitive form to explain the origin of creatures half man, half animal. Mexico is known, among other things, by their shamans, sorcerers and healers (doctors of the tribe), sometimes called Nahuales or Naguals. All towns and cities in Mexico have at least one Nahual. The Aztec word for Nahual is Nahualli, meaning what is my clothing or skin, and refers to the ability of Nahual to become a creature half man, half animal (wolf, jaguar, lynx, bull, eagle, coyote .. .). That word also refers to necromancy, occultism and malice. For prehistoric peoples, the nahualli was one of the sorcerers called tlatlacatecolo literally "men owls", indicating that only appeared at night. Before the heyday of the great pre-Hispanic civilizations as the Aztec or Maya, indigenous Yakis, Tarahumara and Seri living in northern Mexico and southern United States (about 900 AD) had nahuales. These civilizations were settled in what is now part of the U.S. states of California, New Mexico and Texas and the Mexican states of Chihuahua, Baja California, Sonora and Sinaloa. They believed that if a man can know his spirit primitive or nahual, he can use to heal people and practice magic. Many primitive drawings in old caves show people like werewolves. In the Aztec Empire nahuales were protected by Tezcatlipoca, the Aztec god of war and sacrifice. The legend said that a nagual could shed its skin and become one of these creatures. Many hunters and settlers Aztecs said that during the night had killed an animal and at dawn the body was transformed into that of a man. To be evil? THE Nahual can only be transformed overnight and attacked our children infernal spell, say people from the colonial era (1500-1800 AD) to today. The Inquisition (Catholic court punished Jews, witches, and who is not Catholic) persecuted nahuales long. But people believed in his power and sometimes protected, especially in indigenous communities. In the region of Los Tuxtlas, belief in the nahuales is entrenched. It ensures that there are people who can become birds and have the power to fly. They go on full moon days and metamorphose into owls, nightjars and turkeys (the name applied to various local birds). If someone observes that a bird lands on your house for several consecutive days, you can infer that this is not an ordinary bird, but a bad nahual looking for one of the inhabitants of that house. Legend of the Nahuales has dark parts, lost in the past, in the magical Mexican cosmology differs a lot depending on the sources they are based on local legends that are appropriate to the region where it counts.
