CHAPTER-1:-

Executive Summary

TVS Motor Com TVS Motor Company is a two-wheeler manufacturer in India. The Company manufactures a range of two-wheelers from mopeds to racing motorcycles. The Companys products include mopeds, motorcycles and scooters, three wheelers and its parts. Its motorcycles products include Apache RTR 180, Flame DS 125, Flame, TVS Jive, Star City, Sports. Variomatic Scooters products include TVS Wego, Scooty Streak, Scooty Pep+, Scooty Teenz. Mopeds products include TVS XL Super, TVS XL Heavy Duty. During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2011 (fiscal 2011), the Company launched TVS Apache RTR 180, Scooty Pep+ and TVS Max4R. During fiscal 2011, the Company launched a customer service initiative TVS Service Anytime Anywhere (24x7). During the year, the Company sold 39,257 three wheelers; 832,567 motorcycles; 704,557 mopeds, and 466,206 scooters. The Company has exported three wheelers to 18 countries. On June 21, 2010, TVS Housing Limited became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company. pany - Mission The company committed to being a highly profitable, socially responsible, and leading manufacturer of high value for money, environmentally friendly, lifetime personal transportation products under the TVS brand, for customers predominantly in Asian markets and to provide fulfilment and prosperity for employees, dealers and suppliers. Location of the study The study was conducted in the city of Davangere. Duration of the study This study was conducted for the duration of 3 months. Sample size The sample size of the respondents is 100. Data collection method Primary and secondary data was used for the study Primary Data : Survey method and Questionnaire. Secondary Data : Google search engine( the statistical information related to sales,market share, and also company profile and strategy)

It has an host of features which makes it better than its predecessor. Looks and Styling Dual tone colors and new racy graphics lend the Scooty Pep+ with style. An easy-reading speedometer cluster and a fresh new range of body colors add stylish dots to it. Some salient features of the Scooty Pep Plus are chrome plated exhaust, multi reflector indicators, jewel box headlamp, integrated tail lamp, and the striking pillion grab rail. The Pep Plus Scooty comes in dual texture colors and arresting graphics. Scooty Pep Plus is available in colors like Orange trap, Electric Red, Purple Mischief, Night Black and Copper Mystery. Control and Comfort Arrangement for wider and relaxing seats has enhanced the comfort of the driver and passenger. Presence of hydraulic shock absorber makes for smoother riding. The scooty is equipped with various safety and security features like side reflectors, multi reflector headlamp, puncture resistant tyre, side stand alarm etc. It has an easy mobile charging socket which one can use for charging the mobile. Features like auto choke, bag hooks, compartmentalized utility box, auto fuel tap, glove box push and pull bag holder among others add to the comfort of driving. Engine The two-wheeler has a powerful 90cc four-stroke engine that churns out a peak power of 5 bhp and a peak torque of 5.8 Nm. HYPOTHESIS OF THE STUDY To access the demographic profile of the customer. H1:-There is significant relation between income and reasons to purchase the scooty pep+. H0:-There is no significant relation between income and reasons to purchase the scooty pep+.

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

Research instruments: The research instrument used for this study is structured questionnaire and survey method. Research type : Descriptive Research is used for the study and under that survey technique is used. The descriptive research was used because here the research has no control over the Variables, one can only report what is happening. Sample area: Sample area is basically the place where the researcher conducted his survey or study. The study was conducted in city of Davanagere. Sample size: The sample size of 100 respondents was taken for the study. Sample technique: Simple Random Sampling technique was used for the study to select the sample from the population. Research description: The tools used for the research is questionnaire for the users of TVS scooty pep+ and filled by the respondents. The questionnaire typed and presented to respondents in a proper manner. In this the personal interview provides flexibility in the sense that researcher was able to provide further clarification.

Sample element: Every individual who uses gearless bike. Sample unit: Individual users. Sample time: February to May. Sample extent: Davangere city. Sample size: 100 respondents. Sample method: Probability sampling. Sample technique: Simple Random Sampling.
