Welfare helps in motivating the employees and helps and encourages him for doing better work in future. So, the employees can work with more interest and minimize the short comings & become more efficient and effective in his job. It also helps him gain a huge confidence towards the work given to the employee.

Introduction

Employee Welfare includes the provision of various facilities and amenities in and round the work place for the better life of the workers. It is a part and parcel of social welfare. The term social welfare connotes the welfare of the entire society whereas labour welfare is a narrow concept concerned with the welfare of workers. Labour welfare facilities include medical, sports, education, cultural and other facilities. In India, some welfare facilities are compulsory as per labour laws. While others are purely voluntary in character. It should be noted that expenditure on labour welfare is a profitable investment in the long-run as it motivates the workers for higher productivity.

Labour welfare is a dynamic concept as new welfare measures are added to the existing ones along with social changes. It is also a comprehensive concept. The modern concept of labour welfare entails all those activities of the employers which are directed towards providing the employees with certain facilities and services in addition to wages and salaries, these are not a form of employers goodwill or charity to the workers, but are facilitative services to build and maintain the morale of the workers to achieve the objectives of the organisation. It is not only in the interests of the employee to provide them with necessary medical benefits, recreation facilities, retirement benefits etc,

The need for adoption of welfare measures as a means to increase the workers productive efficiency to keep up their morale and for the maintenance of the industrial peace has been realized by all sections of society. The main objective of these provisions is to provide basic welfare amenities to the workers, while working in the factories. Provision relating to welfare of the factory workers has been made in sections of the factories act, 1948.

Changing Scenario in Employee Welfare

It means the flexibility in employee welfare or we can say that with the changes in time, the policies and programs also change. It is the need of every organization to change according to the situation.

It includes:Be alert for the first sign of change. Develop your early warning system. Anticipate change even when things are going right. Always look at the opportunities that changes represent. Dont allow routines to become chains. Realize that the fear of the unknown is natural. Keep renewing ourselves. Surround ourselves with the people who are open to change. Do your best and leave the rest, play to win. Respect ourselves because the world will reward us on our success only. Never Change our core values. We must remember that succeeding in the changing world is beyond just surviving. Change is the only thing that will never change so better adapt to it ROLE AND FUNCTION OF EMPLOYEE WELAFRE IN PROFESSION IN TOMORROWS ORGANISATION:The companies of tomorrow would be learning organizations traditional assemble line would yield to small group assemble operations. The system of flexible manufacturing should be geared to changing customers demands. It is necessary to have employees who have flexibility in their approach who can fill comfortable in an ambiguous situation and to create a necessary order in what may appear to be chaotic situation. He should know how to deal with the autonomy. He should have up to date information ability to take calculated risk, some entrepreneurial behaviour, an ability to cope with stress which is a concomitants with global competition and increase in challenges.

Internationalising the organization:I. Pre-employment training II. Post employment training III. Easing the expatriates transition.

The Employee welfare Manager should Focus on:1) Greater productivity and concept of internal customer orientation. 2) More of the development rather than regulatory focus which is not just talked about but practiced. 3) Increasing employee empowerment at a cellular level.
