Greetings & Farewells (Music) Ehya everybody, Im Carlos Marroquin. Welcome to my English podcast.

Greetings are words or gestures to express welcome or salutation. In contrast, farewells are use to express good bye. Do you always say Hello when greeting people? Or is always Good bye, your farewell? Thats boring, monotonous, and repetitive. So, today we are going to learn and practice other different ways to say hello and good bye in an informal context. I repeat, in an informal context. So, let-s start. (Music) Using slang in greetings and farewells is typical between close friends. Teens and young people often use slangs when they greet each other. Slang is very informal kind of vocabulary. It is mostly used in speech by people who know each other very well. (Music) Instead of say hello people use words and expressions like:

Howdy Hey Heya Yo Hi Gday Wazzup

P: Ok, smell you later G: Easy Well, now that you know some expressions, lets practice having an interactive conversation. First, I am going to greet you and you have to response using the expression we have learned and following the same patter from the conversations above.
