Engineer – Vendor Development

 Conducting DFM with product development, quality and supplier.

 Development of proto samples and validation of the same with the product
development team and Supplier Quality Assistance team.
 Running pilot, production lot as per the PPAP procedures and handing over the
components to regular procurement team.
 Processes stabilization and negotiating of prices with the vendor for mass
production
 Prepared a planning sheet (viz Material forecasting) by coordinating with
Engineering and Production planning and control team for Vehicle Roll off and
monthly spares billing.
 Placing orders, following up of material dispatches with vendors and tracking with
the logistics to ensure Just in time delivery and continuous productivity
 Successfully handled procurement activities for 498 major components and ensured
nil line stoppage in production line by continuous monitoring of material
 Identify opportunities for cost savings and explore reciprocal business relationship
with key suppliers

  Coordinated with the Internal Logistics for effective monitoring of stock levels and
ensure minimum inventory levels. Worked with the Quality dept to ensure material
quality to reduce customer complaints
 Allocated and designed new storage locations and bins to achieve First in First Out
system for material in Internal Logistics Center for proper identification & material
movement
 Derived a vendor rating chart based on quality and delivery performance, and
worked in line with the supplier Quality control dept. for periodic audit.

 Releasing Monthly schedules, procurement of Raw Materials.

 Releasing LOI / PO to the supplier.
 Coordinating with vendors to ensure flexible production plan and prevent line
stoppage
 Implement & maintain the Min & Max stock in stores for every component for
proper storage & reduced inventory losses.
 Co-coordinating for joint inspection of materials at supplier’s manufacturing
facility & participating with quality team in training the vendors.

Achievements:

 Developed 12 components with 3suppliers which includes fasteners, machined

components (distance piece) and clutch push pad.
 Developed 3 Alternate vendors for vendors, thereby reducing the risk of Banking
upon Monopoly Vendors.
 Reduction in the cost of a component by 50% by Value engineering of the
component
 Supported the production line without line stop when the production per month was
doubled than the actual
 Maintained the indigenous raw material inventory at an optimum level.
 Developed the metrics to evaluate the performance of supply chain and took
counter measures for improvement of the same.
