2. Features and Operations

New Features
The following list includes features provided by the Initial Release of the HP OpenCall Media Platform 3.1.1. The OpenCall Media Platform is a scalable, carrier-grade media server enabling rapid development and deployment of applications. For a complete and detailed description of the following topics, and especially for supported configurations, please refer to the HP OpenCall Media Platform 3.1.1 Product Description.

Service Development
The tutorials have been updated in order to provide a much higher level of developer support. It is now possible to change the SIP INFO message Request URI from CCXML and VoiceXML, thus providing interoperability with older applications. The ISUP 99 message set is now supported, including the Number Portability Forward Information (NPFI) signaling parameter. On non-deployment platforms only, the Enhanced Variable Rate Codec (EVRC0) is now available for use. Support has been added for playing a file that is currently being recorded. Note: for developer-related information using VoiceXML and CCXML, refer to the HP OpenCall Media Platform VoiceXML and CCXML Implementation Descriptions.

Servers, Operating Systems and Hardware

The HP ProLiant DL580 G3 server is now supported, as well as the DL385 G1 server with support for two dual-core CPUs. Sonet/SDH cards are supported with E1/T1 framing on DL385 G1 servers. 4 GB physical memory is required per server. The only supported operating system is Linux RedHat Advanced Server or Enterprise Server 3 Update 6. 1Gb/s LAN needed for SIP Media

Operation & Support

Log4j can be used to collect the logs of customer-created Java services. The SNMP traps for the Base subsystem and OpenCall SS7 (but not for the BRE platform) are now customizable using the ss7SNMPAgent command. SNMP Clear traps are now displayed when trapped events are cleared.

OpenCall Media Platform 3.1.1 - Linux

It is now possible to troubleshoot many ASR/TTS problems with the tools provided with the software. Refer to the ASR/TTS chapter in the HP OpenCall Media Platform Troubleshooting Guide for details. Enhanced overload protection mechanism. When the WLC detects an overload, it will efficiently block all outgoing calls as well as a percentage of all incoming calls depending on the amount of overload. This is done by refusing the creation of new sessions. Migration service The BRE licensing mechanism has been simplified in order eliminate problems due to IP address changes, etc.

Command Lines & GUI Interfaces

All configuration steps are done through the Base subsystems node management interface and the BRE platform OM GUIs. Off-line platform configuration is not supported. When stopping the OpenCall Media Platform, the current OA&M configuration is automatically saved. A warning is displayed the next time the OA&M is started, as well as instructions for loading the previous configuration. The command ocmpUser allows you to create multiple accounts for the management interfaces. This is in addition to the default ocmpadm and ocadmin accounts.

Features Incorporated from Previous Releases

The following list describes features that have been incorporated in the Initial Release of OpenCall Media Platform 3.1.1 from previous releases.

Servers, Operating Systems and Hardware

Previous generation supported servers: HP Proliant DL380 G4 (Base and BRE), DL360 G4 (SIP only, with Base and/or BRE). E1/T1 TMC cards and Echo Canceller cards

Known Problems
Protocol
JAGag09394 VoiceXML consultation transfer support.
Description: Implementation of VoiceXML consultation transfer has some limitations: The response code does not specifically tell why a transfer attempt failed. connecttimeout in VoiceXML can not abort the transfer.

JAGag04838 IP address or port change not supported in Re-Invite.

Description: OCMP does not support IP address or port changes in Re-Invite, which is required to migrate other systems into the network.

JAGag09242 /opt/OC/share/snmp/mibs/ocmp.mib isn't up to date for OCMP SNMP

traps. Description: In /opt/OC/share/snmp/mibs/ocmp.mib, we should find the following OCMP SNMP traps, which are defined in /etc/opt/OC/supportability/SNMPProxy.conf.d/*: LOG_200_17 LOG_200_18 LOG_200_19 LOG_200_20 = = = = Severity := Warning :, Trap := yes Severity := Cleared :, Trap := yes Severity := Warning :, Trap := yes Severity := Cleared :, Trap := yes

Also, the following two SNMP traps, which are located in /etc/opt/OC/supportability/SNMPProxy.conf.d/OCMP_PF_LOGENTITY, seem to be identical: LOG_200_10 = Severity := Major :, Trap := yes => DESCRIPTION "Host [<string>] OCMP [<string>] aborted [<string>]" LOG_200_11 = Severity := Major :, Trap := yes => DESCRIPTION "Host [<string>] OCMP [<string>] aborted [<string>] "

JAGag09247 It's impossible to disable/enable and change the severity of SNMP traps.
Description: When runring the following command as root user: /opt/OC/bin/ss7SNMPAgent -trapid <trapID> -severity <Severity Level> -trap <yes/no> the output is as shown below, despite the fact that the Trap ID does exist:

Media Processing
JAGag08919 Significant noise creation by software echo canceller.
Description: The software echo canceller generates significant noise instead of silence, with a possible impact on ASR detection.

Network
JAGag08918 After ISDN traffic, WLC indicates negative number of ISDN circuits. JAGag08249 A high call rate of ISDN traffic may cause robustness issues.
Description: At a call rate of above 30 calls/sec, the OCMP may go down.

Performance
JAGag08922 Unnecessary cron task slocate affects OCMP performance.
Description: The task slocate.cron, which runs at 04:02am every day, leads to high CPU usage for about 1-2 minutes. This affects performance during this time period.

Known Limitations from Previous Release OCMP 3.1

RTP resources
For services using the CCAPI: it is highly recommended to limit the usage of simultaneous RTP ports to 300. For VoiceXML services: in order to optimize call flow latencies with OCMP-BRE, the minimum number of RTP ports must be at least equal to the number of VXML licenses plus the call rate.

CCXML_Enabler oclet usage

Though there is a CCXML_Enabler oclet on the Base subsystem, the customers need the VXML Environment (i.e. the BRE subsystem) to be able to use it properly.

Discrepancy between RHEL OCMP supported and installed on platform OS version shipped by TID (RHEL 3 U6), and license + media delivered with the platform (RHEL 3 U3)
The OS version of the license+media which is shipped by TID (RHEL 3 U3) is not consistent with the OS version which is supported in 3.1.1, and which is installed on the platforms shipped by TID (RHEL 3 U6). Therefore, in case of a reinstallation from scratch of the machines shipped with those License+media, SGBU-S teams must not install the OS part with the RedHat CDs shipped with the platform. They should use the recovery CDs shipped by EIC with the platforms or their own RedHat RHEL 3 U6 CDs. Note: OCMP 3.1.1 only supports RHEL 3 U6.
