Objectives
This document shall cover functional and technical aspects of masking last subscriber number digits in Netview Full Session Analysis module (FSA) / NNV265.

2 3

Scope
This feature shall be implemented on Netview 7.1

User Requirements/Use Cases

Not all users, which have access to FSA, shall be able to see the entire subscriber numbers. Therefore a new FSA access right shall be introduced, which give users access to the FSA but have the last N digits of the all MSISDN overwritten by "xxx".

4.1

Functional Specification
Masking Digits in FSA GUI
SR-01 Masked fields If this masking feature is active in the system and active for a user, the following numbers to be masked on the CDR/GDR and CLR/GLR level, in all views (Leg Record, CDR view, CLR view, details, etc.): A,B,C,D Numbers MSISDN IMSI IMEI IMEISV

The same number of digits (defined in the Nexusconfig.conf file) shall be masked for all of those numbers.

SR-02 Masking symbols Masked digits (according to the configured number) shall be replaced with a special masking character from the right side (last digits shall be masked). This masking character shall be defined in Nexusconfig.conf and by default it shall be x. Please refer to the Figure 1.

SR-03 It shall be possible to deactivate PAT access Access to PAT start from Netview shall be configured per user group separately from this masking digits feature (as currently, Netview 7.0). When PAT access is allowed, user shall have access to all information in the message, including the full subscriber numbers (as currently, Netview 7.0).

4.2

FSA Search for Individual Subscriber

SR-04 Option 1. FSA Search shall support search for individual subscribers for the users which have this feature activated in the same way as for the users with full unrestricted access

SR-05 Option 2. FSA Search shall not support search for individual subscribers for the users which have this feature activated number fields shall not be present in the search filter

Netview user shall not be able to have access to the following fields in the FSA search filter: A,B,C,D Numbers MSISDN IMSI IMEI IMEISV

Search on these fields shall not be possible if the masking digits feature is activated. SR-05 and SR-04 are mutually exclusive. One option from these two shall be selected or another new option shall be defined for implementation. Please refer to the Chapter 6 Open Issues.

4.3

Feature Activation per Deployed System

There shall be a configuration parameter in Nexusconfig.conf how many right digits to mask starting from 0. "0" means this feature is not activated. SR-06 Nexusconfig.conf shall contain the configuration information if the feature is activated generally in the Netview deployment and how many digits shall be masked and the masking character One parameter shall be used for general activation of the feature per Netview deployment (example): SS7config default 0 maskDigits 0 # 0 = off, 1 (min)

By default (if there is no such record in Nexusconfig.conf), this feature is deactivated.

4.4

Feature Activation per User

Masking digits feature shall be activated / deactivated per user group via Netview User Administration GUI. In User Administration GUI this feature shall be called Subscriber Information (FSA).

SR-07 Netview Administration GUI shall allow switching masking digits feature on and off per user group

Open Issues
Use case for this feature is not fully clear. If subscriber digits are masked and the search for individual subscriber is not allowed in GUI, Netview user can not perform troubleshooting for subscriber complaints. On the other hand, if search for any number in FSA GUI is allowed, the purpose of masking is not clear because even if the digits are masked its clear for a user that the search result (calls) corresponds to the search criteria individual subscriber number. If the usage of Netview for such restricted rights user will be only to get anonymous statistical data, it may make sense not to allow access to Netview FSA module to such user at all, but allow only accessing measurement applications with statistical data (e.g. IRM2, NPE) or reports. What kind of troubleshooting specifically will such Netview user who does not have access to full subscriber digits perform? What would be the most important usage scenarios (use cases)?
