As you may be aware coming to Madrid as a non-EU citizen means that after your 3 month tourist visa has expired, you would have to return to your country. However, with a student visa you the right to live and study in Spain, as well as travel legally for the length of your visa (with possible options to extend). Student visas are only granted for those enrolled at academic institutions accredited by the Spanish authorities. The TEFL Programme The TEFL course is very intensive and you will be in the school from 09.30 to 19.00 each day and you will also be required to complete coursework and assignments in the evenings and on weekends. Our graduates have great success getting work because our course is recognized within the industry as having the highest standards and most relevance to the current market. The TEFL course is also moderated and accredited by the International Association of TESOL Qualifying Organisations, which means that a globally recognized independent body other than ourselves ensures we keep up our standards. It also means that the certificate is recognized 2

and accepted around the world. After working in Madrid, many of our graduates go further afield and we now have Tt Graduates working in Poland, England, Australia, USA, Lithuania, France, Germany, Brazil, Peru, Ghana and many other countries.

During the first week of the course you will observe experienced teachers teaching the Spanish students. You will see a variety of teachers with very different personalities but all using the same methodology. We run four levels of English classes for English language learning students who receive the classes for free. These classes enable you to practice your teaching skills in a real classroom with real students. The students are from all walks of life and are very supportive of your development. You will also participate in classes on lesson planning, teaching skills, materials, the four skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening), grammar and phonetics. It is a very practical course and we always keep it very up to date to meet the needs of the current teaching market. In the second week of the course you start your teaching practices (six teaching classes in total). All your teaching practices are observed by one of our TEFL trainers who will give you written and verbal feedback after the class. Feedback is designed to be a positive process by which you are given practical and constructive advice, so you can develop your skills for the next class. Your lesson planning is also done with trainers to guide and help you. Our school is full of the latest books and resources to ensure your classes are fun and dynamic. You can bring your laptop with you and connect to our wifi or you can use the computers at the school.

Finding Work

We have excellent relationships with some of the best teaching agencies in Madrid and due to our guaranteed interviews on successful completion of the course, 100% of our trainees have found work within days of finishing the course during the academic year (for more information about seasonal work patterns see http://www.ttmadrid.com/work-opportunities-in-spain.php) We also offer our premium CV service to all our graduates where we connect you with over 300 agencies and schools who are always waiting to receive your CVs. We offer full support both during and after the course and help you plan your classes during those first crucial weeks of teaching. Given the financial crisis we have never worked harder to continue establishing relationships with schools and agencies and we now run a workshop during the course about how to access as many possible teaching avenues as possible. We constantly post jobs on our Facebook page as we hear about them and help you fill up your teaching schedule by keeping teaching agencies informed about your availabilities. Our teachers are currently teaching at KPMG, Microsoft, Vodafone, Orange, Telefonica, Nokia, Siemens, Accenture, as well as the top banks in Spain such a Santander and Caja Madrid. Were also proud that our graduates are teaching at Gucci, the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Work, the Central Police College, various pharmaceutical companies, four of the top private childrens schools, hundreds of smaller Spanish based companies and our personal favourite is teaching the bodyguards for the King and Queen of Spain! Our graduates are teaching some of the most senior company directors in Spain. During the course we have practice interviews to ensure you are as prepared as possible and have your interviews lined up as soon as the course is finished. For those of you wishing to

work in July, we also have very good relationships with summer camp schools which are based all around Spain. As a student you then have the right to apply for permission to work. This is for a maximum of 20 hours per week during term time (20 hours is considered full time teaching hours but if you want work more than this, we will help you get private work as well). This is not an automatic right but we have yet to know of someone being rejected for this and we will help you apply for this process through our agency network once you have finished the course.

In company classes with the finance and IT Director Accommodation One of the requirements of your student visa is that you have accommodation arranged before you arrive. You therefore need to go through a recognized agency . You have two accommodation options (whichever option you chose, the initial accommodation letter will be supplied by AIL so that you have the necessary paperwork to get your visa application approved). Option 1 (standard). This is provided by Sal y Ven. If you are interested in this option, we will send an introductory email to the agency and they will guide you through the process. They speak really good English and are very nice and helpful. For 60 euros, (which is a very reduced rate for our trainees), the agency will find you a room in a flat that meets your needs and send you information and usually photos as well. If you are happy with what they have offered and an agreement has been reached, they will arrange for someone to be at the flat with keys when you arrive. Rooms cost around 450/480 euros per month (4 weeks), with a refundable deposit of 350 euros. All monies need to be paid directly to the agency in advance and are completely independent of TtMadrid Option 2 (deluxe)

AIL also offer an accommodation service. There flats are a little more luxurious than the ones offered by Accommadrid and therefore cost around 600 euros per month. For either option, all of the accommodation has been personally vetted to ensure they are safe, clear and appropriate for your needs. Bed linen will be provided. Travel Insurance You will need to get travel insurance for your trip. We strongly recommend you research this yourself in order to find the best and cheapest options. AIL currently works with the US based Atlas Underwriters. This travel insurance (as well as many others) meets all embassy requirements for Student Visas. A little more on this insurance Price for one year (364 days) is 600 USD for coverage with a a max coverage of 1,000,000 USD and having 0$ deductible (excess) The price reduces to 330 USD if the deductible is 100 USD and the max. Coverage is 50,000USD The student decides on the amount of coverage they require. The insurance policy is comprehensive and the company is reputable.

"Presentation, Practice, Production!" These are the words that greeted me to my first days in TEFL training, on the far side of the world. Madrid was beautiful, the people were nice, the transportation system was incredible, but was I really learning about Gerunds, Modal Verbs, and Present Perfect Tenses? Being a 22 year old American fresh out of University, this is not what I had in mind when I wanted a "break" from school and relax as I traveled Europe. Nonetheless, the ensuing weeks turned from stress and hard work into something magnificent. I graduated TtMadrid, found a job teaching, met tons of friends, and earned enough money to begin the travels. Was the course worth all the effort? Was it worth spending the money, time, and energy to come so far away to a new culture and land? One word: ABSOLUTELY. Although TtMadrid is intense, that is exactly what you want out of a TEFL course. The respect Natasha and Temura have in the teaching world here is profound. Finding jobs is a breeze. Furthermore, the flexible schedules allow for traveling, Spanish classes, tasting all of the great foreign beers, and much more. So from one skeptical American to other skeptics abroad, I leave you with this : Consider TtMadrid and the teaching experience. It's a memory of a lifetime waiting to be made!
