Police and Military in America

Posse Comitatus may or may not be suspended, but it's at least a part of the reason for all of these SWAT teams: Americans respond poorly to being ordered about like slaves, and even those who are otherwise most ignorant of the law know that the military is NOT supposed to perform police work or anything of the sort within the U.S. So what did they do? Well, police are perfectly legal - so the White House had the Pentagon militarize the police via the back door of sending them military grade equipment for the SWAT teams and made them the thing for your regular police to want to do. I mean, look at them: cool, evillooking black uniforms and armor, extra time to work out and get paid for it, extra training (military brainwashing if they only knew it), and all of those wonderful military toys! Cops love guns! They're almost all of them gun nuts, and suddenly they get all sorts of militarygrade weaponry! And now there's all that great Star Wars stuff like a sound cannon, a microwave "ray gun" that they say causes no damage. Really? I'll never believe it, any more than I do the notion that the sound cannon is harmless - it breaks eardrums, and may affect weak vasculature in the brain (cause strokes) - or that Tasers are "non-lethal' - they're less lethal than a gun, until they're misused by hitting someone in the head with one or tasing someone twenty times when they're already injured or old or have heart problems, or when they're used on children and infants. Cops have one set of priorities that include protecting citizens even at the risk of their own safety. The military has an entirely different set of priorities. They kill for one thing. Cops can kill, but that is the very last resort; for the military it's the first priority. They protect each other and themselves. Not the ones they are sent after. Those are The Enemy. Cops already have a disdain for criminals. Add the military conditioning and criminals, who now stand in the place of The Enemy, become dangerous social trash, and in the minds of our now-militarized police, it doesn't matter what happens to them. For those police with anger management problems, criminals and an accused criminal is close enough are the perfect target; some police already more than half think of them as The Enemy anyway. This is why so many citizens are getting beaten down by police cops are in a transition phase between police and military, and anger kicks a lot them over that dividing line. We now have an occupying military scattered all over the U.S. They feel totally superior to ordinary citizens, they feel entitled - to instant obedience by the groveling, fearful, nothing populace who ought to be glad to be permitted to keep their lives if they do. When one fails to grovel sufficiently it's often interpreted as disrespect, called contempt of cop by police, and disrespect is a threat to an occupying military; it will very often get citizens attacked and at least beaten severely for their temerity. It has gotten more than one hospitalized or even killed. This is part of the reason that the military is never supposed to perform policing actions within the U.S. The police and the military have completely different missions, and must use totally different tactics. Too many cops are bullies who became cops in the first place because they wanted power to begin with, and there is a famous study, the Stanford Prison Experiment, that showed how even ordinary people, equals, when divided up into prisoners and guards, take on the mentality of those groups, including abuse from the guards and a willingness to follow orders even to causing severe

harm to the prisoners, and they get fear and hatred from the prisoners in return. When police are handed this kind of power, some of them go off the rails quickly and far too easily. They'll lie to cover for each other, as the military will, but in the case of police it means framing innocent people for something they didnt do, and maybe causing those innocents a long prison sentence and a criminal record along with much other loss. With an insidious sort of conditioning program that doesnt say what it means though that message is gotten across clearly by cops who tend toward violence, their buddies, they are taught, are all they have besides their own skill and aggression between surviving a war and dying. Even the people who called the police for help are ending up beaten down, arrested on false charges and having to pay for a legal defense and medical care; sometimes they go to prison. Cops are also going to continue overreacting to the legal ownership by citizens of firearms. Its insane for an occupying army to allow an occupied populace to own guns! Of course this is not supposed to be an occupied country, but militarized police are trained and conditioned to react as though it is, and naturally guns in the hands of the people they now regard as The Enemy are going to raise the paranoia level sky high, and the death toll rises with it: a military tries hard not to take chances on being shot, so they shoot first, something police should try hard not to have to do; but these cops are militarized. If police shoot in error, oh well better if an innocent civilian who was stupid enough to look dangerous dies than they take a chance on being killed themselves. America is not supposed to be an occupied country, but with these pseudo-military, conditioned cops stuck halfway between both, thats exactly what we are! A standing army has ALWAYS become a danger to the civilian populace of its own society if it is kept long enough just training between conflicts. This is why Roman law forbade the army to cross the Rubicon into Rome proper. When it did, it signaled the beginning of martial law and the end of Rome as anything but a military dictatorship while the Senate became little more than a rich businessmans club that let the citizens continue to believe Rome was still a republic much like Congress is now. The Roman army went from protecting and expanding Rome to choosing who became Caesar, and finally to selling the throne to the highest bidder. We just seem to have skipped that middle stage, save that the elite super-wealthy are the ones who choose the public leaders of America now because theyve bought the Congress through unlimited campaign donations, and most Americans are unaware of that. As long as the military, whether they are government, converted cops or mercenary, is permitted to operate in the civilian sphere we will continue to have abusive and fatal incidents. Killing is what they do, and they are conditioned to be arrogant its better to appear arrogant to The Enemy than to look fearful. Police are or they were - taught much differently. They used to know that even someone they arrest is still only accused, and is innocent until a conviction by a jury of their peers. They have long since crossed the Rubicon though, and America has long since ceased to be any sort of Republic. The corporations own every seat of power in Washington D.C. there is, including the Supreme Court, which is packed with traitors whove repeatedly violated their oaths, just as the Congress is. They are serving the corporations that donate the money that gets them elected or that will hire them after they leave their current posts, not the people or the country. The elites who have infiltrated the government then also appoint industry

insiders to regulatory and other government agencies who then put the good of corporations and their bottom lines above the health, safety and welfare of the people. It's going to be very, very hard to undo this, if it can be undone at all. Police must be given the opportunity to either become real military, or to be deprogrammed as military and act like police again. Failing that, they must be let go to find their own way in some other field entirely as we have always done with former military. SWAT teams must be reduced to the numbers and functions they had to start with, and stop being used for everything, even things like serving simple subpoenas. Keeping a deadly military around at home to handle ordinary policing work is insane! It will continue to have the results it is having now: all citizens being treated as violent criminals, even being killed, for failure to grovel, and contempt of cop. A military must presume guilt and intent to kill in the enemy or chance failing to survive. The police know better: these are their friends and neighbors and their children, the people they swore to serve and protect, and they need help. Shooting them or beating them to death because they moved or held themselves wrong for a moment, or because they had something in their hands that might have been a gun simply cannot be interpreted as service or protection no matter how hard it gets spun. Militarized police who think theyre an occupying army (and so they are an occupying army) will continue being violent, and they will continue to escalate the level of violence because thats what a military does in an occupied country. Resistance cannot be tolerated. Americans will, eventually, remember who, what and where they are: they are a free people in their own country going about their lawful business. They are being attacked by criminals, and then being attacked again, often far more violently, by the police they called for the help they were hired to provide, who then become criminals themselves! At some point, American citizens will have no choice but to react with massive violence themselves simply in order to survive in their own country against their own police, paid for with their own taxes to abuse them and theirs. That is a situation no population would tolerate, especially not one with a long tradition of freedom. Not unless they aspired to slavery. Ian MacLeod July 17th, 2011 Updated May 21, 2012 Oregon
