Is the reference really relevant to your work ? What are the credentials of the reference ? Peer reviewed ? Sponsored by a particular company ? Used by other researchers ? Will it still be available in 25 years time ?

A Literature Review is not just a list of journal papers with a description of what each one describes. A Literature Review must: Connect together and contrast different references. Critically comment on previous work. Provide the context for your own work. Identify conclusions to carry forward into your own work. The Literature Review must be thoroughly referenced: To acknowledge intellectual property. To allow the reader to locate and read your references for themselves.
