1. General
1.1. Scope
The purpose of this project is to provide Detail Design of steel supports and concrete foundations for start and
end of 20 Natural Gas Pipeline in the scope of SORFERT project. NG pipeline is an underground pipe
providing gas supply to main plant. Both ends of pipes are placed above ground and must be supported by
means of steel supports. Position of start and end of NG pipe is shown in general layout of pipeline routing.

2. Input data
Project is based on these groups of related documents on piping, typical drawings of steel supports and list of
typical details:
includes terrain, pipe, fixations, steel supports and concrete foundation blocks
used for space coordination and obtaining of main dimensions for support structures
SO-UD-D605.00065
Pipeline routing was prepared on the basis of general layout rev. 04 from 4.10.2008.
Pipeline is routed in Corridor IV and Corridor I. For position of start and end see the pipeline routing and
longitudinal section.

Output from complete stress analysis of the pipeline includes nodal forces per all different load cases (selfweight of pipe, operation, wind, earthquake, pressure test). There are two sets of nodal forces - one for common
situation, (endpoint of pipeline is blinded and clamped to support) and one for situation when launcher/receiver
station is attached (endpoint of pipeline is un-clamped and attached to the station).
These values are taken into structural analysis of supports as a sole input. Only a self weight of steel structures
is automatically generated and added.
Two generalizations are presumed:
1)
All separated load cases are acting in the same direction (adding up together - increased safety factor)
2)
When the load can act in not only indicated direction, action in opposite direction is taken into account too.
The biggest value is selected and considered in both +/- directions. Wind load and earthquake load can be
applied in all possible directions.
Gj,sup = 1,35
Q,k = 1,50
Combinations are generated and the group of most severe combinations is selected automatically. Rules for
combination are user defined and EC 1990 rules are applied.
There are two main groups of dangerous combinations:
1)
Common operation
= persistent and transient design situations (with partial coefficients mentioned above)
2)
Exceptional situation
= accidental design situation (earthquake, pressure test)

Description:
Loading forces are taken from design calculations of gas pipe, nodes No. 6098. There are two sets of
values representing two basic situations (without and with attached launcher/receiver station). However,
their differences are not significant so these sets of values were merged into one enveloping set of forces.

Pd,max = sqrt ( | Rz* | + | Rxy* | ) = sqrt ( 12,5 + 5,7 ) = 13,7 kN (diagonal tension 30)
.... Rxy* = sqrt ( 5,68 2 + 0,49 2 ) = 5,7 kN

Description:
Loading forces are taken from design calculations of gas pipe, node No. 5090. There are two sets of
values representing two basic situations (without and with attached launcher/receiver station). However,
their differences are not significant so these sets of values were merged into one enveloping set of forces.
