Announcements
Holy Fathers Prayer Intention for June 2012 Each month, Pope Benedict chooses two prayer intentions, one for the concerns of the whole church and one for missionaries. We are invited to join the Holy Father in praying for these intentions. General Intention: That believers may recognize in the Eucharist the living presence of the Risen One who accompanies them in daily life. Missionary Intention: That Christians in Europe may rediscover their true identity and participate with greater enthusiasm in the proclamation of the Gospel.

Please keep in your prayers:

Pro-Life Quote from National Right to Life On this Fathers Day, there are many fathers denied the privilege of raising a child because of abortion. Abortion leaves indelible footprints in the texture of masculinity, in the recesses of a mans heart, and in his reproductive history. A father is a father forever, even of a dead unborn child. These men need healing prayers. (The Hollow Men: Male Grief and Trauma Following Abortion, pamphlet by Vincent M. Rue, Ph.D.)

Please consider donating to the Seminarian Education Endowment Fund The Catholic Extension Society is providing a matching grant of up to $50,000 until December 31, 2012 to help fund the education of future priests within our diocese. All donations of any size are welcome, in addition to your prayers for vocations. The May edition of The Harvest had a more in-depth article and also included envelopes to mail your donation to the Chancery. Gifts of $1,000 or more will not only be matched, but can qualify for the Montana Endowment Tax Credit of 40%. If you would like more information, please contact Judy Held at 800-332-9998.

More information on Sr. Helena can be found at www.pauline.org There will also be several workshops pertaining to new commissions of Spirituality, Leadership and Service. Stewardship Thought Today, Ezekiel describes how God nurtures the trees to provide shade and a dwelling for birds. This reading is linked to Jesus telling the parable of the mustard seed in St. Marks Gospel. This seed is one of the smallest of seeds, yet grows to a plant large enough for birds to nest in. Faith in Christ may start out small, but grows to be very powerful when nurtured through the Eucharist and other sacraments, prayer, and the Word of God. We, as faith-filled stewards, know that as our discipleship in Christ grows, so, too, does our stewardship obligation in building the Kingdom of God. Development Thought If you heard there was a way to redirect your taxes to benefit your family and our parish or diocese, would you take 30 minutes to learn more? Judy Held, Director of Stewardship and Development for our diocese, is happy to sit down and visit with you confidentially (and at no charge) to discuss how this might be an opportunity for you. Her number is 800-332-9998 and her email address is stewardship@dioceseofgfb.org.

In October of 2005, Pope Benedict XVI met with a group of children who had just received their First Holy Communion. Some of the children were able to ask the Pope questions. By reflecting on the Holy Fathers answers, we can join these children in growing in our faith. Holy Father, they've told us that today we will have Eucharistic Adoration. What is it? How is it done? Can you explain it to us? Thank you. We will see straightaway what adoration is and how it is done, because everything has been properly prepared for it: we will say prayers, we will sing, kneel, and in this way we will be in Jesus' presence. But of course, your question requires a deeper answer: not only how you do adoration but what adoration is. I would say: adoration is recognizing that Jesus is my Lord, that Jesus shows me the way to take, and that I will live well only if I know the road that Jesus points out and follow the path he shows me. Therefore, adoration means saying: "Jesus, I am yours. I will follow you in my life, I never want to lose this friendship, this communion with you". I could also say that adoration is essentially an embrace with Jesus in which I say to him: "I am yours, and I ask you, please stay with me always".

Prayer for the Protection of Religious Liberty O God our Creator, Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit, you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world, bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel to every corner of society. We ask you to bless us in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty. Give us the strength of mind and heart to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened; give us courage in making our voices heard on behalf of the rights of your Church and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith. Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father, a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters gathered in your Church in this decisive hour in the history of our nation, so that, with every trial withstood and every danger overcome for the sake of our children, our grandchildren, and all who come after us this great land will always be "one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Scriptural Rosary
Will be held on June 10, 2012 at 5:00 PM at the church.

Amen.

PETERS PENCE COLLECTION

Cast the Peace

of Christ upon the World

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ: In many places around the globe, the Church struggles to be a visible sign of Christs peace: in poor dioceses where many depend on the Church for social and pastoral support; in regions where Catholics are persecuted and must be helped discreetly; in nations overloaded with refugees or victims of war and natural disasters. The Peters Pence Collection, which will be taken up on the weekend of June 23-24, often provides peace they might not otherwise know. What peace will you give with your stewardship today? The Peters Pence Collection gives us the opportunity to extend a sign of peace to the body of Christ around the world. Our gifts to this annual Collection help the Holy Father support victims of disaster, war, and oppression and others in urgent need of assistance. Pope Benedict uses the Peters Pence Collection to strengthen dioceses, religious orders, and struggling communities of faith when they need it most. For many who must struggle to survive, the peace of Christ is encountered through the Collection and the work of the Holy Father. Please give generously to the Collection and know that, in doing so, you truly cast the peace of Christ upon the world. Sincerely yours in Christ,

Michael W. Warfel Bishop of Great Falls-Billings.
