Summer Internship Details

Dates of Summer Internship: (May 1 June 15, 2012) Expectations from Students
1. Joining Report (JR) & Project Finalization The student is required to submit the Joining Report (JR) as well as the title of the intended project work in consultation with the appointed company as well as faculty mentors. This process should get over within first week of joining. The Joining Report should consist of Name and Roll No. of the Student Name of the Company Address of the Company for Communication Project Title Project Description (Detailed) Date of Joining Name of Company Mentor a. Designation b. Address c. Telephone Number d. Mobile No. e. Email Address Date of Submission of Joining Report Signatures of Student as well as Company Mentor

2. Progress Report I (PR I )


Students should report the progress made till date by the end of third week of May, 2012. The Progress Report should consist of Name and Roll No. of the Student Name of the Company Project Title Names of Industry as well as Faculty Mentors Description of the Progress made onto the Project Concerns, if any Date of PR Submission

3. Progress Report (PR II )


Progress Report II should be submitted by end of first week of June, 2012. The format shall remain the same as shared in Point # 2 mentioned above.

4. End of the SIP Report (ER )


After the project is over, ER should be submitted by June 15, 2012. Apart from the format mentioned above, this report should also comprise of Learning from the Project.

5. Final Report Submission The student should seek for a due approval from the respective faculty mentor and company mentor in the format shared in Annexure III (B) & (C) before submission of the final report. All the reports at the time of submission should be signed by faculty as well as industry mentors. Hard copy of final report on summer internship project should be submitted in four copies by June 30, 2012. Out of four copies, one copy should be submitted to the company, second copy be submitted to Program Office (which after consideration shall be kept in Library for reference), third copy to faculty mentor and fourth to be retained by the student. The specimen format for final report (research /non-research based) is shared in Annexure III.

Evaluation:
The SIP holds six credits in the academic evaluation and would consist of 200 as total marks. The evaluation would be done at following stages I. Continuous Progress Evaluation ( 20 %) To be evaluated by faculty mentor (May 1 June 15, 2012) Total 40 Marks

Faculty mentor shall evaluate the students progress based upon his progress reports as follows: 1. Joining Report: 05 Marks 2. Progress Report I: 10 Marks 3. Progress Report II: 10 Marks 4. End Report: 15 Marks ____________________________ Total: 40 Marks

____________________________ II. Final Report Evaluation ( 25 % Faculty + 25 % Industry Mentor): Total 100 Marks The last date of submission of Project Report is June 30, 2012 and subsequently July 6, 2012 for company (considering courier time). The evaluation shall be done as per the format mentioned in Annexure II (A), of SIP policy shared earlier. Industry Evaluation (Behavioral Evaluation) ( 10 % ): Total 20 Marks Industry shall submit a feedback on the performance and overall behavior of the student to the faculty mentor. (not for students action)

Presentation Evaluation ( 20 %): Total 40 Marks To be evaluated by a panel of minimum 3 members including internal & external
experts (Proposed date July 6, 2012) The duration of presentation shall be of 30 min. inclusive of Q & A session. The evaluation parameters for presentation are to be referred as per Annexure II (B), of SIP Policy shared earlier. BEST SIP PROJECT shall be entitled for a handsome reward!!!

Note: - Those students for whom the date of completion of SIP is towards the last week of June, need to submit the ER by the last date of SIP. Rest all dates for final submission of report as well as presentation shall remain the same. For further clarifications one may refer to his/her respective faculty mentor.

3. Guidelines for Preparing the Project Report:


1. All pages of the project should be numbered. Times New Roman font should be used and font size should be 12. Project report should be in Black & White format, but one can use colours for graphs & charts. Project Report should not be more than 80 pages. 2. Typing should be done on one side of the A4 size executive bond paper. The left side margin should be 1.5 inches, the right, top & bottom margins should be 1 inch. The text of the report should be 1.5 spaced while quotations & foot notes should be single spaced. 3. Chapter heading and section heading should be bold and centrally aligned. Subdivision headings should be typed from left hand margin in title case. 4. Tables, graphs & diagrams should have respective numbers, name headings & sources. 5. Footnotes should be numbered consecutively throughout the chapter or at the end of the chapter. 6. (a) Citations should contain full information for identification, viz. authors name, the title of the publication, year of publication and page numbers. For example, Peter F. Druckers, The Practice of Management, London, Pan Books Ltd., 1955, p.150. (b) If consecutive reference is also from the same book, then simply use the Latin abbreviation ibid & write the page number. (c) Bibliography is a list of alphabetical order references relating to a topic, shared at the end of report. For example: British R. W. etal, Cross-Culture Research Methods, New York; John Wiley & Sons, 1973. 7. Four hardbound copies of project report have to be submitted in spiral binding only, plastic comb binding will not be accepted. 8. A copy of Summer Internship Certificate has to be enclosed in the all the copies of project report.

4. Rules for Summer Internship:


1. Students are expected to have sound understanding of the company profile as well as the project allotted to them by the company. They are required to stick to the action plan in close supervision of the faculty as well as company mentors. 2. No student would be allowed to leave the company amidst of summer internship and switch over to another company. This would lead to serious disciplinary action including cancellation of summer internship. 3. Students are required to study the Organization Structure, Product Profile, Market Characteristics and Nature of Competition, HR practices etc. These aspects may also be included in final report & presentation. 4. In the duration of 45 days, an intern would not be allowed more than 3 days of leave on valid reasons. Leave in any case needs to be first sought from company guide and afterwards from faculty guide, failing which the student would be considered out of summer internship. 5. Payment of the stipend, if there is any, is solely at discretion of the intern company. 6. The student is required to be punctual and abide by the code of conduct of his respective intern organization. 7. Any student found in situations of misbehavior, indulge in wrong acts, disclose or misuse of data, documents, resources (letterheads, telephones, and stationeries), and sharing of finances & confidential matters of intern company to any outside sources shall be declared out of SIP. 8. Keep your assigned internal as well as external guide informed about happenings during the internship.
