Shakespeare Nadine Hood

The Directors Log

In 2010, the Royal Shakespeare Company started to form a plan to encourage thousands of Amdram groups around the world to perform the bards work.
RSC Open Stages is a new project that aims to embrace, develop and celebrate amateur theatre, re-forging the bond with the world of professional theatre while opening up access to Shakespeare for performers and audiences alike. The RSC wants to lead a step change in the relationship with the amateur sector; to recognise its rich traditions, open our doors to its work and collaborate with partners nationally to leave a significant legacy. Michael Boyd, RSC Artistic Director

William Shakespeare, the writer of Hamlet is looking good for 448 years old. Nadine has been with the club for a few years and is building her way to bigger roles.

The Priest Rev. Tim Eady

The religious advisor to the King and the court. Is it lazy casting getting a Vicar to play a vicar? Yes. This is Tims first appearance with us, but not his first time on stage.

Some groups are doing innovative versions, including a Star Wars inspired Twelfth Night in Huddersfield. As this is IHDCs first time, as far as we know, weve kept to a simple 45 minutes version which weve slightly adapted to make accessible to ages, whether an expert in Shakespearean English or someone who hated it at school and has avoided it since. All we know is, maybe Shakespeare was the first soap opera writer. Perhaps EastEnders would be improved with Elizabethan language? Wed like to thank everyone involved; the cast has made such an effort to grasp the storyline and language. The costumes really stand out and our backstage team have been working on our effective powerful props, lighting and scenery. We hope you enjoy it, and we hope it draws you in. Maybe we could do Shakespeare every summer?
