Executive Summary Organizational behavior is totally based on individual, group and organization as a whole.

Organizational Behavior includes all the management principles, organization culture, organization structure and many more core topics in Management. Below, I have discussed about the complexity of the managerial role, the reliance of a manager on other people both inside and outside the organization and the necessary interaction of both informal/interpersonal factors and formal organizational factors in fulfilling organizational purposes. Job Description of the Assistant Manager of Operations Since, I am not in a Managerial level position to talk about myself; I have picked my Line Manger to discus on the topics related to my task. I am working for a leading Fund Administration Organization which is established itself strongly in many cities including Bangalore, Kolkata, Luxemburg, Guernsey, Kuala Lumpur and Colombo. My line manager is leading the Luxemburg Accounting and Valuation team since 2010. In my perspective he is a very dynamic and self motivated personality. As an Assistant Operations Manager he is responsible for 08 to 12 personnel in a team under the concept of span of control. He will be directly reporting to the Operations Manager. He will be the chief responsible person to take care of the team and the whole operation in the absence of Operations Manager. Assistant operations manager understand the company's policies and mission, and not only carry them out, but get employees to do so as well by setting up the individual objective under the concept of Management by objective. His main responsibility is to looking forward for new migrations of funds. Conduct individual one to one sessions to review the administrators progress. Regularly check continuous quality improvement in fund specific activities. Attending biweekly business process improvement and error discussions calls. Additional responsibilities including cross training and creating back-up for funds, maintain records such as leave plans for each administrator, migration plans and perform margin activities, greet and assist clients and business partners form different jurisdiction, input and match orders, handle usual investigation from Financial Advisors and higher authorities, assist with managerial tasks; process communication, filing and special projects. Other than the above he serves as second in command to the operations Manager to help out the administrators and other Assistant Manager of operations in managing jurisdiction operations. Escalate client issues and complaints on operational matters to higher-level management, when necessary communicate and implement firm operational guidelines and policies to support administrators. Monitor and manage operational costs. Oversee the jurisdiction operational risk and audit processes. Manage to leverage resources and delegate effectively.

Principle characteristics of Individuals; Incessantly, I would like to discuss about the principle characteristics the above individuals those who are directly involved with the line manager inside the organization. Though, my line manager is having contact and deal with outside individuals who are located in different part of the world, he doesnt know them personally to discuss about their characteristics. Thus, I am not going to discuss about the outside individuals in detail. Inside the organization my line manager is directly reporting to the Manager of Operations, Accounting and Valuation Europe team. Under him there seven more line mangers directly reporting to him. He is an interesting personality who deals with all sort of work in a cool manner. He is a combination of all three Informational, Interpersonal and Decisional characteristics. Essentially he is legally responsible for monitor, communicate and resource allocating that is right people for the right job. So, what he does is monitor the daily fund activities; whether they are running properly and smoothly, whether they are delivering on predetermined cut off time span, without any Fund Specific Issues. And communicate the feedbacks given by different business partners from different jurisdiction. Apparently, he explains and shares the feedback given by the business partners whether it is good or bad. He is more taking into consideration about the imminent deliverables to be perfect and less issues. AVP, the most accountable person in our team to whom our manager of operations will directly report. He is an experienced and extra knowledgeable gentleman in the Fund Administration Industry. Since he has served for many other leading Fund Administration Organizations he is skilled in various roles such as leading, negotiating, risk handling and disturbance handling. He is a role model for all of us in our team. His leadership quality is amazing. He never speaks much but he is perfect in his duties and more accountable personality. He communicates the necessary information to the Manager of Operations directly and from him our line manger is

will get to know the targets and activities need to be done within a span of time. He is good in negotiating with the business partners. When it comes to discuss about the past performance by the jurisdiction and error and improvement discussion he is very keen in handling the business partners. He never accepts most of the errors made by the administrators and he negotiates to make it as a learning curve. Because of his negotiating skill our team has been an award winning team for many times in the past. Learning & Development Manger is a gentlewoman. She is the perfect personality for the respective position. She is responsible for train the new staffs those who are selected throughout the recruitment process, allocated for different job roles such as fund administrator and fund accountant. She is well organized and her training is more sufficient more than the requirement for the particular job. Since she is well clued-up with Securities Market, her presentations on related topics are properly arranged for the new trainees for their benefit. It is easily understandable when she communicates the facts without any break in her presentation and those deliverables straightly goes into each and every new staff. She is an example for her communication skill. Nobody is there in our company to deliver a presentation like her. She is outstanding. Human Resource Manger is an experienced gentleman who may have recruited thousands of employees in his life time. He is a compact of Management. He is well pre planned and organized. According the requirement of the work he recruits the right candidates for the right job. Further,, two more Human Resource Executives works for him. They facilitate the recruitment process for him. In view of the fact that, the department of Human Resources Management team recruits right people for the right job, the number of fund specific issues and errors getting reduced for the last few years. That is much appreciated.

Interdependency that exists between Assistant Manager of Operations and individuals; Interdependency is all about the coordination between the individuals and departments. Coordination is a vital element of any organized Endeavour. It helps tie different departments and activities together. It is the process of linking various departments or sections or activities of an organization according to some scheme or plan. As organizations development and growth, new positions and departments are added, and senior managers have to find a way to tie all of these departments together. Coordination refers to the quality of collaboration across departments. It is required whether there is a functional, divisional, or team structure. Inside the organization, departments are interconnected throughout the functional process with the coordination of many individuals. Organization is made out of groups of personnel. So, each and every individual is interdependent with each other to carry out the profit oriented business in long term. My line manager is dependent on the Manager of operations to be cascaded all the objectives and targets that are need to completed within a span of time. However, the targets are for a shot period the process will continue till the fund is getting liquidated. Manager of operations is dependent with the Assistant vice president. Manger will require the number of full time employees required to perform a fund so, the assistant vice president will allocate the human resource respective of the fund weight age. He is chief personality to allocate adequate human resource depends on the activities perform for a particular fund including pricing the securities, settling the forwards, booking interest and dividends and value the fund end of each month. Assistant Vice President is absolutely dependent on the Human Resource Manager for recruit the right people for the right job. In view of the fact that, fund administration is such a interesting and stressful activity, it is important to recruit more hard worker cum smart worker. Deliverables are must be delivered on time therefore, employees those who can prioritize the work according to the requirement should be allocated for the funds with regard to the weight age of the fund. Once the employee is recruited the whole team, the Line Manger, Manager of Operations and the Assistant Vice President are dependent on the Learning & Development Manager to train the administrators by giving them the adequate knowledge about the fund, fund specific tasks and activities that are deliverables to the business partners. Consequently, the Learning & development Manager is also playing a vital role in our process. At this point, I could say that sequential type of interdependency is more visible in this work flow than the pooled type of interdependency.

The above is the diagrammatic representation of the interdependencies. In view of the fact that, Human Resources Manager is recruiting all the employees in different destination, excluding the Human resource Manager all other employees interdependency connectivity is showed in the above diagrammatic representation. According to the above diagram, Client is the owner of the fund who has invested his or her money in different portfolios. Each portfolio includes many securities. According to the clients instructions, the money will be distributed into different basket of securities. Fund Manger will be instructed by the Client to which basket how much of the amount of money should be distributed. Once the money is distributed, now the time where all the activities held including money transactions, buying and selling of securities, dividend declaration, interest bookings, pricing the securities biweekly or monthly, booking forward and spot FX, calculating the cash amount that is currently circulating among the securities and the position of the portfolio. Once all activities are done now, the fund manager will instruct the fund accountant to evaluate whether the activities are made according to the instructions of the client and most of the activities are done by the fund administrators and review of the work done by the fund administrator will be reviewed by the fund accountant.

Apart from this, Assistant vice president will interact with the Fund Manager to make sure that the fund allocation on different securities is made according to the instructions of the client whereas the Manager of Operations is contacting the Fund Accountant to ensure the activities are done according to the fund allocation. Assistant Manager of Operations is dealing with the fund administrators to make sure that the activities carried out by them is properly done and all other bookings and amendments are done promptly to ensure the client that their fund is distributed according to their interest and evaluating the fund time to time. If all the above activities are carried out within a time span smoothly and efficiently, the whole team which is dealing with the huge amount of Fund will be satisfied with their job and get self motivated to provide more from themselves. Recommendation In my perspective, I would like to recommend implement a Business Process Reengineering to make the work flow more efficient and effective. I would suggest creating activity specific team to perform the activities rather than one individual is concentrating on all the activities. When it comes to activity specific work flow, more work can be done efficiently within a short span of time. It will become a competitive advantage for the organization and it will lead to take over more fund administration work and because of it more revenue can be realized than earlier with more productive team.
