NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER CONFERENCE EXPANDED IN 1991

TECHNOLOGY 2001, the second national technology transfer

conference and exposition will take place Dec. 3-5, 1991, at
the San Jose Convention Center, San Jose, Calif.

Sponsored by NASA, "NASA Tech Briefs" magazine and the

Technology Utilization Foundation, TECHNOLOGY 2001 will
showcase leading-edge technologies from the space agency and
other federal agencies and their contractors, which U.S.
industry can use to develop new or improved products and
processes.

Building on the success of the 1990 TECHNOLOGY 2000, the

event has been expanded from 2 to 3 days and will include
participation from 10 other federal agencies: the
Environmental Protection Agency, National Science Foundation,
and the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Energy,
Health and Human Services, Interior, Transportation and
Veterans Affairs.

Created to increase the level of technology transfer to

non-aerospace firms, the conference will feature experts who
will discuss 120 technical advances with commercial
applications in 15 critical technology areas -- advanced
manufacturing, artificial intelligence, biotechnology,
communications, computer graphics and simulation, data and
information management, electronics, electro-optics,
environmental technology, life sciences, materials science,
medical technology, robotics, software engineering, and test
and measurement.

In government-industry workshops, federal agencies will

brief attendees on their research and development initiatives
and technology transfer mechanisms, spotlighting opportunities
for industry to work with the government to commercialize
technology. These highly interactive sessions will cover
patent licensing, cooperative research and development
agreements and Small Business Innovation Research contracts.
