Training Programme for Egyptian Childrens Books Publishers

The Goethe-Institut Cairo together with the Akademie des Deutschen Buchhandels, the Egyptian Publishers Association and the Arab Academy for Professional Publishing is organising a training programme for publishers from the Arab World. The programme is designed for publishers, and management executives of publishing houses specialised in childrens books and in children literature. It comprises a series of lectures and workshops covering the following topics: Business management and administration for childrens book publishers Effective organisation and processes: How to successfully organise and manage a publishing house specialised in childrens publishing Developing and implementing a successful title list for childrens book publishers Production and Design: Key factors for producing and illustrating childrens books Marketing for childrens book publishers: Developing persuasive marketing and promotional campaigns Distribution and online book distribution: How to distribute a childrens book in the Arab and the international market E-books and tablet publishing: Which platforms and formats, and when? Creating a strategy for digital content for children

A detailed programme in Arabic and German can be provided. Three sessions of 3 days each, delivered by lecturers from the Akademie des Deutschen Buchhandels will take place in Cairo from October till December 2012. The training programme will be conducted in German with a simultaneous translation into Arabic. Discussions and conversations may be held in English. To ensure an adequate consideration for the participants individual requirements, the number of spaces available will be restricted to 20. Participation in the complete programme (3 sessions) is obligatory. The first session of the programme will be held from October 16 to October 18 2012, 9:30 a.m. till 4:00 p.m., at the Egyptian Publishers Association 92, Tahrir Street Saridar Tower Dokki. Refreshments and snacks will be served. The 2 session is scheduled for October 30 to November 1 2012 in Cairo. The 3 session is scheduled for December 15 to 17 2012 in Cairo. The above dates are still to be confirmed. The participation fee for the whole programme (3 sessions) amounts to L.E. 500. Deadline for applications: 12.07.2012
