All Martin SP sets use premium metals with high tensile strength to stand up to demanding performances. SP core wires and plain strings are electro-plated to resist corrosion and deliver sustained playability.

80/20 Bronze Popular for stage and studio performance due to its brilliant tone out of the box. The tone will mellow quickly into a warm sound. Phosphor Bronze Bright but slightly warmer sound than 80/20 bronze when first put on the guitar. Consistent tone over time. Crystal Nylon This material is used for the treble strings on classic sets and provides rich, clear trebles that are essential to the classical sound. Fluorocarbon Fluorocarbon is used specifically for our M600 and M630 Ukulele strings. The density of this material is higher than traditional nylon and produces stronger and richer tone. Our fluorocarbon formula also has lower elongation properties to resist tone loss caused by stretching of the strings under tuned-to-pitch tension. You can stay in tune and play longer!

At C. F. Martin & Co. we design strings for maximum performance and exacting tone. The following tips are provided to help you increase the longevity of your strings and maintain the richness and fullness of the tone: Tune, gently stretch and re-tune new strings prior to playing. Always wash and dry your hands prior to playing. After playing, use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the strings and fingerboard. Store unused strings in the original packaging in a dry location. Periodically check the saddle and nut for burrs that could result in string breakage; have any burrs removed by a qualified repair center.
