Pegu youths brutally shot to death by the military regime, we strongly oppose to the incident
The incident took place on the 4th of September 2010 at midnight. Maung Aung Thu Hein and Maung Soe Pai Zaw and a military officer and a soldier were involved in a motorcycle accident in Pegu. They started quarrelling about the accident. The military soldier and the officer were both drunk. After the quarrelling the military officer and the soldier went back to call a group of soldiers. They entered the town together. They shot with their guns in the air and shouted rudely to the youths. Then they found the two men Maung Aung Thu Hein and Maung Soe Pai Zaw and shot them both to death shooting them many times. The students and youth congress of Burma strongly (SYCB) oppose this incident and blame the officers for the human right violation. Pegu is a city which is the home for many NGOs and part of the international community with a big population. It is also a city of administration, transportation and with a legal council. The rootless brutal killing by the Tatmadaw (military) in this area in front of the international community shows that there is no justice and no respect of the Burmese peoples rights. Military regime has ruled the country for many years and the brutal killings can happen in any area and to any ethnic people. Rape of women, forced labour, occupation of land and property of people, the burning of peoples crops and fields turns people into refugees and force them to flee from their land. During the military regime human rights abuses are happening every day. The student and youths are the future of the state, but they are oppressed by the regime. The regime limits their right and possibility to travel and get education inside Burma. They torture them with the aim of making them the slaves of the military. This creates insufficient ethic and moral values; it also limits their knowledge to a very basic level. During their teenage years their livelihood is prostitution to be able to support themselves and their families. Their future and the hope of the coming generations are taken away by the military regime. Brutal killings will create consequences for the students and youths in the entire Burma, it should not happen again. We have to denounce and work against the unjust military regime. We have to work together for our future and the future of the state to be a peaceful and harmonic federal union built on justice. We have to overthrow their military system and bureaucratic military mechanism together, and encourage everybody to join against the military regime.
