Smyth Gathering and Sewing Line Mod. UNIT consists of a Vertical Gatherer connected in line with a Smyth automatic thread book sewer. It is expressly designed for all binders who manage small staff and have little shop floor space. It is the most appreciated solution by our worldwide Customers for the quality provided, productivity, compactness features and versatility that make this solution ideal to drastically reduce the production costs of the thread sewn book.

GATHERER STATIONS

Smyth patented gatherer Mod. P12 is the only one available on the market that changes according to the format size of the job to run. Gatherer station width is 64 cm. With job format up to 325x320 mm the gatherer pocket splits in two, providing the possibility to load two sequential signatures in the same station. Therefore, the gathering line composed of 9 stations transforms into a line having 18 stations.

Thanks to the its compactness features, Smyth UNIT can be managed by a SINGLE operator who loads the signatures into the gatherer and discharges the sewn book blocks.

INVEST IN THE FUTURE

Smyth UNIT can be connected to Smyth Digitaline, the book finishing system that provides sewn book blocks starting from digitally printed single sheets. Through this configuration you can mix Litho signatures to Digital printed ones in the production of customized books, exploiting the cost advantages of the automated production line. Let us imagine a diary composed of Litho signatures for days and months, and digital ones to customize the diary for every single Customer. This means you will be able to delight the Customer through a customized product at a low price. Thanks to this configuration only ONE operator is required to manage the entire process.

CHOOSE VERSATILE EQUIPMENT

Smyth book sewer can be used as traditional standing alone sewing machine to feed manually and unload easily. This is made possible through the stacker Mod. Helper which is installed to get sewn book piles at programmable height. The gatherer line can also be used independently thanks to the optional Courier device which transfers the gathered books to the stacker to accomplish a gather job. Courier device is installed between the gatherer and the sewer. Thanks to the gatherer high production capacity, it conveys gathered signatures to the in-line sewer and a second potential off-line sewer.

CONNECT YOUR PERFECT BINDER IN LINE

The exceptional flexibility of the Smyth UNIT is further displayed with the possibility of connecting the gatherer portion of the UNIT in line with your Perfect Binder.

This means that now with the same gatherer you can gather, Smyth sew and perfect bind in line. In this way you can dramatically improve your workflow and take advantage of the high flexibility of the Smyth UNIT.
